NWN Carousel Supports Spinal Cord Injury Recovery As 33 Foundation Hosts Annual Fundraiser

Employee Community Investments Continue from Cloud Communications Leader

WALTHAM, Mass.--()--NWN Carousel, the leading integrated cloud communications service provider, announced today that it is sponsoring the 33 Foundation's 12th annual Fundraiser and Golf Tournament. The foundation was started by NWN Carousel Chief Financial Officer, Matt Curran, to support those living with and recovering from spinal cord injuries.

“The 33 Foundation’s mission is very personal to our team given Matt’s own history within the spinal cord recovery community,” said Jim Sullivan, CEO NWN Carousel. “We’re proud to support Matt and all of our employees who volunteer and contribute to the local communities where we live, and customer communities who we serve with our cloud communications services.”

Curran, a former Providence College Division 1 hockey player who suffered a major spinal cord injury after falling from a roof when he was 21 years old in 2001, is one of the fortunate people to fully recover from spinal cord injury. After his injury, he founded the 33 Foundation as a community of beneficiaries and donors that are passionate about helping those living with and recovering from spinal cord injuries. This year, the beneficiary for the Curran Family Open will be Boston-based athlete and physician’s assistant, Dianne Vitkus. The annual golf tournament raises funds for a specific person living with a spinal cord injury. Available spots for the golf tournament are limited this year as part of the tournament's adherence to COVID-19 protocols.

“I was given a one-in-ten-million chance to ever walk again,” Curran said. “I consider myself blessed every day to be walking and fully functioning but so many of us with spinal cord injuries aren’t as fortunate. When we started this tournament 12 years ago, it was with the goal of raising awareness for spinal cord injuries and giving back to those who have suffered. I’m humbled when I think of the beneficiaries we’ve helped over the years and the money we’ve raised through the golf tournament and other events.”
