Southern Glazer’s Announces 2020 Safety Award Winners

MIAMI & DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits (“Southern Glazer’s”)—the world’s pre-eminent distributor of beverage alcohol—has announced the winners of its 2020 Safety Awards. Southern Glazer’s annual Safety Awards program recognizes Excellence in Safety for Company locations that demonstrate a commitment to workplace safety by implementing and maintaining the standards of Southern Glazer’s Environmental, Health, and Safety programs, both on and off the highway.

The awards are awarded in three levels: Emerald—consisting of employee locations with more than 1,000 employees and more than 100 vehicles; Sapphire—consisting of employee locations with 500 to 1,000 employees and 50 to 100 vehicles; and Ruby—consisting of employee locations with fewer than 500 employees and 50 vehicles. The two categories for each award level are Excellence in Safety and Excellence in DOT Compliance & Fleet Safety.

The 2020 Safety Award Winners, selected by the 2020 Safety Awards Committee, are as follows:

Emerald Level:

• Excellence in Safety – Farmers Branch, TX
• Excellence in DOT Compliance & Fleet Safety – Puyallup, WA

Sapphire Level:

• Excellence in Safety – Indianapolis, IN
• Excellence in DOT Compliance & Fleet Safety – San Antonio, TX

Ruby Level:

• Excellence in Safety – San Antonio, TX
• Excellence in DOT Compliance & Fleet Safety – Austin, TX

Each winning location will receive a banner to be displayed at their facility, as well as enjoy a team recognition celebration breakfast or lunch.

In addition to the Safety Awards, Southern Glazer’s reinforces its safety culture through its Elite Safe Driver Recognition Program, available to all drivers who qualify based on having 20 consecutive quarters or five years of safe driving without a preventable collision. Once a driver reaches this milestone, they receive a gold ring set with an onyx stone. A .10pt diamond is added to the ring for every four consecutive quarters of safe driving until the ring is fit with 12 diamonds. As the driver continues their safe driving record, the center stone is replaced with a .25pt diamond and then is eligible for monetary bonus awards.

Southern Glazer’s driver and warehouse personnel are also provided unique opportunities to show off their skills in local and national competitions. The Company holds annual Distribution and Warehouse Rodeos at various locations, in which employees compete in customized slalom courses, forklift bowling, forklift basketball, challenging obstacles, and much more. These Rodeo competitions showcase the professional forklift and driver talent that Southern Glazer’s employs and promotes safety through healthy competition.
