CAES Expands Apprentice Offerings to Silicon Valley

Collaborates with Evergreen Valley College and Next Flex on new apprenticeship program at CAES facility in San Jose.

SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--CAES, a leading provider of mission critical electronic solutions, is excited to announce that it has established an apprenticeship program in San Jose, California to further enhance Silicon Valley’s manufacturing workforce and to secure a highly skilled pipeline for technical talent. CAES has a successful history of training and developing apprentices and also offers apprenticeship programs at its Exeter, New Hampshire facility. Through these programs, CAES partners with educational and government institutions and industry organizations to offer employment opportunities and develop registered apprenticeships through a combination of classroom instruction and on-the-job training. Apprentices will work on advanced RF, microwave and millimeter wave assemblies for aerospace and defense systems that make the world a better and safer place.

“CAES skilled technicians are the backbone of our company and allow us to meet the growing needs of our customers,” said Alan Takahashi, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Missiles System Division, CAES. “We are delighted to offer the company’s apprenticeship programs in Silicon Valley and help nurture and work alongside the next generation of highly skilled technicians. CAES apprentices are fully integrated into our workforce and we have been fortunate to retain apprentices as employees upon completion of the program.”

To support this apprenticeship, CAES has launched a pilot class on Electronic Skills for Advanced Manufacturing, a part of the National Science Foundation (NSF) Advanced Technological Education (ATE) project. This class is co-instructed with CAES employees and Evergreen Valley College in San Jose. While they continue their Advanced Manufacturing Certificate education at Evergreen Valley College, students who successfully complete this course will be eligible for an apprenticeship at CAES. This creates a career growth path for students while creating a pipeline of skilled talent that will contribute to the future success of CAES.

The apprenticeship program is a key part of Evergreen Valley College’s Advanced Manufacturing Technology (AMT) curriculum that prepares graduates to enter the labor force with skills that are in demand while promoting manufacturing as a pathway to economic success. By collaborating and coordinating across multiple organizations including San Jose’s Workforce Development board, Work 2 Future, Evergreen Valley College, NextFlex, industry partners and CAES, the apprenticeship program leverages a wide range of resources that provides students with an educational and hands-on learning experience that these parties could not provide alone.

CAES is interested in collaborating with other universities and industry partners to establish additional apprenticeship programs. To learn more about CAES apprentice programs as well as CAES careers, visit: www.caes.com/careers
