PathogenX Adds Jamie Moriarty to Board of Directors and Names Robert Gurecka National Sales Director

CARMEL, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Boosting its leadership pool as it moves into full growth mode, Carmel-based medical device company PathogenX has named tech entrepreneur Jamie Moriarty to its board of directors. The company also announced that former McKesson Corporation sales standout Robert Gurecka has been named National Sales Director and will lead business development, sales and marketing for the company’s North American efforts.

Jamie Moriarty is an experienced innovation-driven entrepreneur with experience in industry disrupting product development, design and operations management. He founded Uber Dispensing Co. in 2005 to reimagine the way beverages are served. The brand designed and developed a keg tap in tandem with Anheuser-Busch. In 2014, Moriarty launched popular social polling app, Pauwow, an industry pioneer in providing a platform for instant consensus data results. Having spent several years in energy brokerage and consulting, Moriarty also developed a SaaS product, R.F.Queue, for independent consultants.

Currently, Moriarty serves as co-founder of digital marketplace and cold logistics company, Ready Set Gourmet, the parent company of Gourmet Kitchn and Cold Chain 3PL. The services provided by Ready Set Gourmet are currently being utilized by both boutique food brands and giants in the industry. Moriarty was recently recognized by InterCon as a 2020 Top 50 Tech Leader for his overall impact on the tech industry and spirit of innovation. He also competed in the 2010 Vancouver Olympic Games as a member of the United States Bobsled Team.

“We’re honored to have Jamie contribute his incredible knowledge and experience bringing revolutionary technologies to market. There’s no doubt that he’ll be a tremendous asset to our leadership circle,” said Chuck Berkeley, PathogenX’s CEO and Board Chairman. Berkeley, who also competed in the 2010 Olympic Games as a bobsledder, added, “Competing both alongside and against one another as bobsledders, Jamie and I have experienced some genuinely intense adversity together – I know he’s someone I want alongside me in the board room.”

Meanwhile, Gurecka brings more than 30 years of sales success to his new role at PathogenX, spanning medical distribution, retail pharmacy, laboratory and medical manufacturing experience combined with 10 years of building growth focused start-up ventures from concept and vision to incredible success and profitability.

“Robert’s experience from McKesson Corporation, Drive Devilbiss Healthcare, and A.M.G. Medical to his successful launch of National Wellness and ARCPoint Labs of Pittsburgh has provided him with the right mix of skills to excel in his new leadership role with us here at PathogenX,” said Berkeley. “His track record speaks for itself. As we continue to grow and establish our presence as a disruptive force in medical waste management, Robert’s leadership and experience will help make our target goals a reality.”

PathogenX’s PX2 is a stand-alone device (about the size of a laser printer) that safely and efficiently renders regulated medical waste (such as sharps and red-bag waste) completely sterile, unrecognizable and non-reusable in compliance with all federal EPA, CDC and OSHA standards and guidelines. Each PX2 device is capable of processing up to 12 gallons of medical waste per day. The PX2 system destroys all microbes, including COVID-19, while melting the biomedical waste so that a resulting “brick” of harmless, sterilized material can be easily disposed of in the standard trash.

PX2 technology is now available throughout the United States and Canada for use by hospitals and health facilities; research centers and laboratories; mortuary and autopsy centers; animal research and testing laboratories; veterinary facilities; blood banks; nursing homes for the elderly; and other health-related venues where blood is drawn.

The mission of PathogenX, Inc. is to reimagine and change the way nearly one million U.S. low-volume generators manage their infectious waste by offering an economic, efficient and environmentally safe solution, which also serves to eliminate liability. Learn more at pathogenx.com.
