Prospero Health Continues Nationwide Expansion to Increase Access to Home-Based Medical Care
Starting in April, Prospero will bring innovative care model to patients with serious illness in Maryland, Michigan, Nevada, Vermont, and West Virginia
BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Prospero Health announced today it is expanding into Maryland, Michigan, Nevada, Vermont, and West Virginia to support a growing population of people living with serious health conditions. The physician-led practice provides home-based medical care to over 10,000 people facing serious illness across 26 states.
Prospero's innovative model offers physician-led medical care in the home with enhanced video consultation capabilities and 24/7 telemedicine support. Prospero announced a national expansion in December of 2020 and is continuing to improve access to medical care where it is needed most.
“We have seen an overwhelmingly positive response from patients, families and local healthcare providers as we have introduced our model of compassionate, holistic care to communities across the country,” said Prospero Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer Doug Wenners. “Our nationwide expansion allows us to support more patients and caregivers as they navigate severe chronic health issues and challenges associated with adverse social determinants of health. Many of the people we serve live alone and rely on our care teams for medical and emotional support. Our goal is to help them live their best quality lives.”
Prospero is expanding its care teams as well as virtual delivery capabilities to the following markets: Baltimore, Maryland; Burlington and Rutland, Vermont; Detroit and Kalamazoo, Michigan; Las Vegas, Nevada; and Charleston and Morgantown, West Virginia.
Working closely with patients’ existing primary care physicians and specialists, Prospero’s multi-disciplinary teams of doctors, nurse practitioners, nurses and social workers ensure patients receive the care they need, where they need it. Prospero currently serves patients in Connecticut, Georgia, Illinois, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, South Carolina, Pennsylvania, Alabama, Florida, Texas, Arizona, Wisconsin, Oklahoma, Minnesota, Maine, New Hampshire, and Delaware.
With 40 million people in the U.S. living with advanced illness and thousands of seniors with compromised immune systems still waiting to be inoculated against COVID-19, Prospero is meeting an urgent need for in-home care and telehealth to protect vulnerable populations during the coronavirus pandemic and beyond.
