Somatus Continues to Advance Kidney Care Model with Addition of Senior Scientific Advisor

Nwamaka Eneanya, MD, MPH, FASN joins Somatus to further clinical research and care model innovation.

MCLEAN, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Somatus, the market leader in value-based kidney care, today announced that Dr. Nwamaka Eneanya has joined the Company as Senior Scientific Advisor. Dr. Eneanya will guide clinical research studies to advance the Company’s evidence-based approach to care delivery for patients with or at-risk of developing kidney disease.

Dr. Eneanya is a nationally and internationally recognized clinical investigator with research interests that focus on health equity among patients with advanced and end-stage kidney disease. Her work has been supported by the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK), National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities (NIMHD), and the American Society of Nephrology.

Dr. Eneanya is an attending nephrologist and Assistant Professor of Medicine and Epidemiology at the University of Pennsylvania. She is also the Director of Health Equity, Anti-Racism and Community Engagement in the Nephrology Division. Dr. Eneanya completed her nephrology training at the combined Nephrology Fellowship Program at Massachusetts General Hospital/Brigham and Women’s Hospital and residency in internal medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. She holds an undergraduate degree from Cornell University, medical degree from Meharry Medical College, and master’s degree in public health from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.
