Healthstat Partners with City of Atlanta to Launch COVID-19 Testing Sites for Essential City Employees

Centrally located sites provide convenient testing and prioritized results for the City’s essential workers

CHARLOTTE, N.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Healthstat, Inc., a leading provider of onsite, nearsite, shared and virtual employer-sponsored health centers, has opened multiple drive-through COVID-19 testing sites in Atlanta for essential city workers. Launched in partnership with City of Atlanta, the sites allow first responders and essential employees to access priority COVID-19 testing free of charge and receive expedited results as a result of an agreement between Healthstat and clinical laboratories. Employees do not need to be enrolled in the City’s healthcare plan and do not need an appointment to receive the test.

The testing sites opened Thursday, August 6, and are available on Thursdays and Fridays at multiple central locations – the Atlanta Fire Department, Atlanta Police Department (APD), Department of Parks and Recreation centers and Department of Public Works – with plans for another testing site at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. Healthstat will operate the testing sites through mid-December 2020 and coordinate closely with the City to assess ongoing needs and determine if an extension or expansion of the testing program is required.

Staffed with trained health professionals, each of the sites can administer as many as 50 tests a day. For patients who test COVID-19 positive, Healthstat will manage primary care provider outreach and follow-up care as needed.

“It is critical that the essential workers of Atlanta receive accessible, quick and effective COVID-19 testing, so they can keep themselves and their loved ones safe and healthy, while keeping the city running,” said Dr. Eric Hart, Chief Medical Officer of Healthstat. “We are honored to partner with the City of Atlanta to deliver this service and deeply grateful to the employees who are serving Atlanta in the midst of this pandemic.”

Each testing site adheres to Healthstat’s COVID-19 commitment, which includes social distancing, rigorous cleaning and sanitizing between patient visits and mandatory personal protection equipment (PPE) for physicians and patients. These procedures help ensure that employees receive safe, clean and secure care during their visit and caregivers are fully protected.

“Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms, City of Atlanta and the Department of Human Resources are committed to protecting the safety of our employees and their families and providing access to quality medical services during the pandemic,” said Dr. Angelica Geter Fugerson, Chief Health Officer of City of Atlanta. “We are thankful to Healthstat for serving as our partner in providing this vital service to City employees.”

Healthstat has served as the healthcare provider for City of Atlanta since 2018, offering city employees an onsite health center and VirtualCare services. During the pandemic, all services have been offered virtually to manage patient needs in primary care, chronic conditions, mental health and medication management.
