Purdue Pharma’s Avrio Health Donates Betadine® Antiseptic Products to Direct Relief for Use by Frontline Healthcare Workers

Follows recent company donations to New York State and Connecticut

STAMFORD, Conn.--()--Avrio Health L.P. (“Avrio”), a subsidiary of Purdue Pharma L.P. (“Purdue”), has donated shipments of Betadine Solution and Surgical Scrub to Direct Relief, advancing the company’s previous commitment to donate $1.6 million worth of Betadine antiseptic products (active ingredient, povidone-iodine or “PVP-I”) for use by frontline healthcare workers.

Betadine Solution and Betadine Surgical Scrub are antiseptic products for healthcare professionals to use to reduce the number of microorganisms on the skin that can potentially cause infection. Betadine antiseptic products have been used by healthcare professionals for more than 50 years. This donation follows previous product donations to New York State and Connecticut.

We have supported Direct Relief both recently and historically with a COVID-19 special donation grant and product donations tied to hurricane relief efforts. We are thankful for the organization’s leadership and ingenuity during current and past health and humanitarian crises,” said Craig Landau, MD, president and CEO, Purdue Pharma. “Avrio’s latest donations are part of our ongoing efforts to support healthcare workers on the front lines as they continue to serve people in need during this pandemic.”

Purdue will continue to work with various interested parties and organizations, including state health officials and public health experts, to determine where future shipments of Betadine antiseptic products are most needed.
