Travelers Named a 2020 Best Place to Work for Disability Inclusion

Company earns top score on Disability Equality Index® for third consecutive year

HARTFORD, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Travelers Companies, Inc. (NYSE: TRV) today announced that it has earned a top score on the Disability Equality Index® (DEI) for the third consecutive year, maintaining its distinction as a Best Place to Work for Disability Inclusion. Administered by Disability:IN and the American Association of People with Disabilities, the DEI evaluates a company’s disability practices and policies related to organizational culture, leadership, accessibility, employment, community engagement and supplier diversity.

“Fostering a diverse and inclusive work environment where employees feel valued, respected and supported is a business imperative for us, and it’s an honor to be recognized for our efforts,” said Fred Colon, Chief Diversity & Inclusion Officer at Travelers. “We support several programs that help bring greater awareness to the disability community, including our disAbility & Allies Diversity Network, an employee-led resource group that focuses on breaking down barriers and emphasizing an individual’s abilities.”

Among other initiatives, Travelers supports its employees with disabilities by providing a centralized team that is committed to addressing accommodation requests. The company also partners with external state agencies and colleges to create job shadowing events, internships and job training placement programs that serve the needs of candidates across a range of disabilities.

Travelers is a member of the Autism @ Work Employer Roundtable and has previously been recognized as the Employer of the Year by Lifeworks, a Minnesota-based nonprofit that partners with companies to promote and advance employment for individuals with disabilities.
