Spero Health Brings Life-Saving Addiction Treatment to Dayton Ohio

BRENTWOOD, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--In response to the high demand for addiction treatment services during the COVID-19 pandemic, Spero Health has announced they will expand by opening a new location in Dayton, Ohio on May 5th. Spero Health, a CARF-accredited, community-based organization and national leader in outpatient addiction treatment of substance use disorders, operates more than 35 clinics located throughout Kentucky, Ohio, Indiana and Tennessee, providing care for more than 7,000 patients each month. The new clinic located at 7271 North Main Street will increase access to high quality, affordable addiction treatment services by offering a combination of telehealth and in-person visits. Spero Health accepts Ohio Medicaid and most commercial insurance plans. Individuals who need addiction treatment services are encouraged to call: (937) 203-4928 for more information or to schedule an appointment.

Speaking about the Dayton opening Spero Health’s CEO, Steve Priest said, “We are seeing an urgent need for expansion of addiction treatment services during this pandemic. Those with addiction are facing dire consequences as it has become harder to keep up treatment regimens or access social supports in a time of physical distancing. In addition, economic indicators point to an increase in substance abuse due to the rise of unemployment which leads to psychological distress and is associated with higher numbers of drug and alcohol misuse. We feel it is critical for our communities to continue to have access to life-saving addiction treatment options during this time.”

Ohio has been among the top five states with the highest rates of opioid-related overdose deaths, according to the National Institute on Drug Abuse. “Montgomery County has made great gains in the opioid epidemic battle by seeing a decline in overdose related deaths the past 2 years, but there is still much work to be done,” said Priest. “As the drug epidemic evolves and new patterns emerge, we are proud to offer a transformative addiction treatment model that will improve social and economic outcomes for those at risk.”

When asked how COVID-19 is impacting those who are struggling with substance use disorder, VP of Clinical Services for Spero Health, David Hayden said, “Addiction is a disease that thrives in isolation and new social distancing guidelines can be really challenging for those in recovery. It is critical that we continue to provide avenues in which we connect with people. Spero Health is proud to make virtual appointments available giving people the opportunity to keep close connections with their counselors and physicians on-line and over the phone.”
