Mispro Biotech Unveils Full-Service, Multi-User Research Space in South San Francisco

Largest bi-coastal vivarium services provider in U.S. opens sixth coworking space

SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif.--()--Mispro Biotech Services (“Mispro”), a contract vivarium organization offering coworking research space plus comprehensive animal care and compliance services, today announced the opening of a 10,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art in vivo research facility centrally located in South San Francisco’s biopharma corridor. The campus will open its doors this Spring and will also be home to an in vitro incubator location, offering the local research community access to a continuum of space and services supporting preclinical drug development. Mispro operates a network of contract vivarium facilities located in major biotech hubs including Cambridge, Massachusetts, New York City, and Research Triangle Park, North Carolina.

“We are pleased to welcome Mispro Biotech Services to the City of South San Francisco,” said Mike Guerra, President & CEO, California Life Sciences Association. “The robust suite of services Mispro provides will be instrumental in propelling scientific innovation and driving our life sciences community to new heights.”

In addition to providing access to turn-key research space for rodent-based pharmacology and behavioral studies, Mispro supports its clients with a well-rounded package of services including animal husbandry, veterinary oversight, and its own Institutional Animal Care & Use Committee (IACUC). The inclusion of Mispro’s own in-house compliance committee provides peace of mind for clients, knowing that approved study protocols will meet regulatory and animal welfare requirements through an independent review process. The space plus services solution enables organizations to conduct and control their own studies in fully-managed, stable and compliant environments, without having to spend capital to build a private vivarium research facility.

“By offering access to a controlled environment, our clients are accelerating timelines and compiling robust data sets they can trust, with a high likelihood of reproducibility through incremental phases of development,” said Philippe Lamarre, CEO of Mispro. “Expansion of our network into South San Francisco is an incredible opportunity to serve the Bay Area’s fastest-growing life sciences cluster. This biopharma corridor is thriving with energy and innovation, and we look forward to contributing to this great community, as well as doing our part to attract companies to the area.”

“Our facility will offer multiple options for research space and functionality, including entry-level flex-space for earlier-stage companies and private suites for companies further along in development. We’ll also have inspiring common areas where clients can hold meetings, grab a bite to eat, or enjoy some downtime,” said Mispro Senior Director of Operations Keith Astrofsky, DVM. “We look forward to creating a research environment that inspires collaboration and innovation. Part of those efforts will include collaborating with neighboring companies such as Bonneville Labs, who offer flexible coworking lab space and will be opening their second location in the same building as us in early summer.”

As Mispro continues its commitment to the life science ecosystem, CEO Philippe Lamarre will participate in a panel discussion at East/West CEO being held at the Four Seasons Hotel in San Francisco on Sunday, January 12, 2020, from 11:15-11:45 a.m., entitled “Enhancing the R&D Landscape: Optimizing the Path to Drug Development.”
