VCA Charities’ Annual “Pennies for Pets” Campaign Raises over $565,000 for Pets in Need

VCA Animal Hospitals demonstrates that when organizations work together, small change benefits 52 national companion animal welfare organizations

LOS ANGELES--()--VCA Charities, the nonprofit partner of the nation’s largest animal hospital network, VCA Animal Hospitals, together have successfully raised over $565,000 to support regionally selected companion animal welfare organizations in the annual company-wide “Pennies for Pets” campaign.

From April to June 2018, 700 participating VCA hospitals collected donations by encouraging clients to round up their transaction amounts to the nearest dollar or donate online. Funds raised benefit local animal welfare charities with the important work they do on behalf of pets in need.

“We are thankful for the generous VCA clients across the country who have demonstrated their generosity by rounding up their purchases to the nearest dollar and helping us achieve our fundraising goal during this year’s successful campaign,” said Ron Tatum, VCA Charities executive director. “The donated small change resulted in raising over half a million dollars that directly benefit community-based animal welfare organizations that are dedicated to ensuring that all pets in need have a better chance for a happy and healthy life.”

Donors wrote messages of support on paw prints and could follow the fundraising progress at each local participating VCA hospital. Hospital managers shared that their clients were excited and eager to support the “Pennies for Pets” campaign. The check presentations to the beneficiary companion animal welfare organizations will take place in the coming weeks.

“This campaign is a collaborative effort between VCA Charities, our family of VCA animal hospitals and our clients, community members, and donors who all work together for the greater good to ensure that every animal gets a chance at a forever home and a happy life,” said Brandon Antin, VCA vice president of social responsibility and innovation. “We can’t thank everyone enough for helping to make this year’s campaign so successful. 'Pennies for Pets' has demonstrated that everyone can unite around enhancing the lives of pets in need.”
