NCT's ClearSpeech Noise Reduction Technology Available for Enea's OSEck Real-Time OS; Enhances Mobile Communications Voice Quality by Removing Background Noise

SAN JOSE, Calif.--()--Nov. 9, 2005--Enea, the world leader in advanced device software, today announced the availability of NCT's ClearSpeech noise reduction technology for the OSEck real-time operating system. ClearSpeech gives designers of OSEck-based mobile communications systems an easy way to enhance voice quality by removing background noise. ClearSpeech is a suite of complex, highly refined software algorithms that provide echo cancellation, signal conditioning and up to 18 dB of noise reduction for human listeners and speech recognition systems. ClearSpeech noise reduction technology is used to enhance voice quality in millions of products around the world, including 3G mobile phones, hands-free voice recognition systems, and Formula 1 team communication systems.

OSEck (OSE Compact Kernel) is a DSP-optimized version of the full-featured OSE RTOS. Occupying less than 4 kbytes of memory (in a minimal configuration), OSEck delivers fully pre-emptive, event-driven real-time response, and features built-in error detection and handling. OSEck and OSE utilize the same LINK-based message-passing technology, which simplifies interprocess communications and makes it easy to combine general-purpose CPUs and DSPs in the same system. OSE and OSEck also use the same API, enabling designers to leverage the memory protection facilities of OSE on the host processor and the hard real-time attributes of OSEck on the DSP without having to learn multiple programming environments.
