Porter Celebrates the Start of Four Sun Routes From Ottawa

Nonstop service beginning to Aruba, Jamaica, Turks and Caicos, Los Cabos

OTTAWA, Ontario--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Porter Airlines is celebrating its winter schedule from Ottawa International Airport (YOW), bringing the National Capital Region closer to four southern destinations.

Beginning this week, travellers can fly non-stop from Ottawa to Oranjestad, Aruba. Flights to Montego Bay, Jamaica, Providenciales, Turks and Caicos, and Los Cabos, Mexico, also begin in coming weeks. Porter is the only airline offering nonstop service from Ottawa to Aruba, Los Cabos and Turks and Caicos, providing exclusive access to the island.

These flights are in addition to existing southern service to Cancun, Puerto Vallarta, Nassau, Grand Cayman, and Liberia, as well as five destinations in Florida. In total, Porter will operate nearly 600 flights to Mexico, the Caribbean and Costa Rica from Ottawa this winter season. This represents an increase of greater than 80 per cent compared to the previous year.

“This is an unprecedented variety of flight options for National Capital Region residents looking for winter escapes,” said Edmond Eldebs, senior vice president and chief commercial officer, Porter Airlines. “Porter’s network continues to expand for travellers, with more non-stop flights to destinations where they want to fly.”

“Canada is showing strong and growing interest in the Turks and Caicos Islands, and we are pleased to see that reflected in the expansion of air service from the market. Porter Airlines’ new nonstop flights from Ottawa strengthens our connectivity with Canada and give travellers more convenient options for reaching our islands. Canadians have always shown a genuine appreciation for the culture, heritage, natural beauty and, of course, the people of the Turks and Caicos Islands. Perhaps it is that shared warmth and friendliness that keeps bringing them back, and our partnership with Porter will simply make it easier for Canadians to continue showing their love for our Beautiful by Nature islands. Ottawa opens an entirely new gateway to the Turks and Caicos Islands. This increased access will make it easier for more Canadians to discover and enjoy our destination, while supporting the continued growth of this important market.”
