Carl Garnett and Tom Ulbrich both bring extensive industry experience and local market knowledge, as Carter Bank looks to continue to provide personalized service and mortgage solutions to individuals and families seeking homeownership in the communities the bank serves.

Garnett, who will serve primarily in the Charlottesville and Lynchburg areas, brings nearly three decades of experience in the mortgage industry, including previous work with credit unions and serving as a Mortgage Loan Officer for multiple organizations. He views homeownership as one of the greatest opportunities for wealth creation and believes helping individuals and families achieve that milestone is one of the most rewarding ways to serve his community. Garnett’s responsiveness, attention to detail and commitment to clear communication have helped distinguish him throughout his career.

“One thing you can say about the mortgage business is that it’s never the same day twice,” said Garnett. “Few live up to the community claim as Carter Bank does. Staff call members by their name and are always looking for ways to make their lives better. It’s a big deal for someone to trust me with this step in the homebuying process, and I’m excited to be a part of a team that already has that trust built.”

Ulbrich, who will serve Bedford and Smith Mountain Lake, also brings more than 30 years of experience in residential mortgage lending to Carter Bank. Throughout his career, he has gained expertise across nearly every facet of the mortgage process, including loan origination, processing, closing, and the buying and selling of mortgages. He will provide valuable insight to customers as they navigate the homebuying process.

“Working through something as complex as homebuying is a puzzle that I love helping people figure out,” said Ulbrich. “Carter Bank provides an atmosphere that values, supports and strengthens its communities. As a member of this team, I look forward to helping clients achieve their homeownership goals through thoughtful, well-structured financing solutions and authentic partnership.”
