NinjaOne Introduces ChromeOS Device Support

ChromeOS Support Delivers Unified Visibility and Faster, Simplified Support in the NinjaOne Unified IT Operations Platform

News Summary

  • NinjaOne introduces ChromeOS device support, bringing ChromeOS and ChromeOS Flex devices into the same inventory and reporting IT teams use for Windows, macOS, and mobile devices.
  • IT teams can now reboot, wipe, or factory reset Chromebooks remotely, saving end-users and technicians time and simplifying support.
  • Multi-tenant management gives IT teams overseeing multiple schools, agencies, or organizations one view of every Chromebook, eliminating the need to log in and out multiple times and giving them time back to focus on other high-priority work.

AUSTIN, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--NinjaOne®, unifying IT to simplify work, today announced support for ChromeOS devices, bringing Chromebooks into the same console IT teams use to see and manage other devices. This allows IT to deliver faster support to end-users and free up resources to prioritize other strategic work.

Having all Chromebooks in one console means students get working devices back faster, and we spend more time on strategic projects that move the schools forward.

Chromebooks are the backbone of device programs across K-12 schools, higher education institutions, and public agencies, with many campuses and organizations using Chromebooks as their primary device type in the field and with students. Until now, they were managed in the Google Admin console, siloed from the tools IT uses for other device types. Managing Chromebooks apart from everything else left IT teams without a complete view of their fleet, which made those environments harder to track, support, and plan for.

How ChromeOS Device Support Works

Now, ChromeOS and ChromeOS Flex devices are part of the same inventory and reporting as other devices, and IT teams can reboot, wipe, and factory reset (powerwash) them directly from the NinjaOne platform. Each Chromebook in NinjaOne links directly to its device record in Google Admin, so IT teams get complete visibility and one-click access to Google’s native management capabilities, without adding a second system of control. Teams responsible for more than one school, agency, or organization see all Chromebooks they support together with multi-tenant management, instead of needing to log in separately for each one.

“Having all Chromebooks in one console means students get working devices back faster, and we spend more time on strategic projects that move the schools forward," said Michael Codis, Network & Systems Administrator at Hunterdon County Education Services Commission. "Our Chromebooks used to live in a separate system from our other devices, which required extra logins and led to slower responses. Now, they sit alongside every other device we run, so if an administrator asks how many devices are checked out, we have an answer in one place. And when a Chromebook acts up, my team can reboot or reset it remotely. It also helps in speeding up the process to push updates to devices and for powerwashing during summer maintenance. Using the data alongside the reporting capabilities of NinjaOne allows us to get the proper information to our schools’ administrators for their own record keeping and documentation on device health and recycling.”

“Most educational institutions’ IT teams are stretched thin managing more devices every year with the same limited budget and headcount,” said Rahul Hirani, Chief Product Officer at NinjaOne. “That not only makes IT’s job overwhelming, often leading to burnout, but it also makes it challenging to provide the support administrators, teachers, and students need to do their jobs well and to learn. By bringing ChromeOS into the NinjaOne platform, we are simplifying work and helping IT get more done with the resources at their disposal.”
