Fabuwood and FreePower Launch the InFocus Drawer, Bringing the InFocus Movement Home
Inspired by a workplace philosophy created by Fabuwood CEO Joel Epstein, the integrated cabinetry solution gives devices a dedicated home to go and recharge–creating more opportunities to be present with the people around us.
NEWARK, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Fabuwood, the leader in semi-custom cabinetry, announced the official launch of the InFocus Drawer, developed in collaboration with FreePower–a new integrated cabinetry solution designed to help people be more present with one another at home. The innovation seamlessly incorporates FreePower's free-placement wireless charging technology into Fabuwood cabinetry, creating a natural place for devices to charge while remaining out of sight and mind.
Smartphones have become a constant presence in everyday life. The average American spends approximately 4 hours and 30 minutes each day on their smartphone and checks it an average of 205 times per day, according to a 2025 ConsumerAffairs report. Nobody knows quite how to solve phone addiction; we feel it eroding our connections, yet breaking the cycle requires an intentional shift.
Recognizing this growing challenge, Fabuwood and FreePower came together to create a solution rooted in a shared belief: technology should support everyday life, not distract from it. Rather than asking families to disconnect entirely, the InFocus Drawer introduces a more practical approach: a designated space to charge devices wirelessly while keeping them out of immediate reach. Countertops stay clear, devices remain powered, and families gain one less distraction competing for their attention–making it easier to be present during meals, conversations and everyday moments at home.
From Workplace Practice to Product Innovation
The story behind the InFocus Drawer began long before the product itself. Several years ago, Fabuwood CEO Joel Epstein introduced a simple practice inside the company: before meetings, employees were asked to put their phones away. It was an experiment to see what would happen if everyone gave the conversation in front of them their full attention.
The change was noticeable. Meetings became more engaging, collaboration improved and people connected in a different way. Over time, what started as a workplace practice evolved into the InFocus philosophy, which Epstein now shares with organizations across industries as a practical framework for fostering stronger communication, deeper collaboration and healthier relationships with technology.
The InFocus Drawer is the first product inspired by that philosophy, bringing the same concept into the home through integrated kitchen design.
"The drawer wasn't where this started," said Joel Epstein, CEO of Fabuwood. "The idea came first. We saw how one small change made a meaningful difference inside our own company, and it made us wonder where else that same principle could have an impact. The kitchen felt like the obvious answer because it's where life happens. Families gather there every day. If we could design something that naturally encouraged people to put their phones away for a little while, maybe we could create more opportunities for them to be fully present with one another."
Solution-Driven Design, Built for Everyday Life
Developed through a close collaboration between Fabuwood and FreePower, the InFocus Drawer pairs American-made craftsmanship with FreePower's award-winning wireless charging technology to create a solution that's as intuitive as it is seamless.
Unlike traditional charging stations, FreePower's circuitry allows compatible devices to charge from anywhere they're placed on a surface, in this case within the drawer–no cables, charging pads or precise positioning required. Homeowners simply set their phone inside and walk away, while the clean, integrated design preserves the beauty and functionality of the cabinetry.
"When Joel shared the thinking behind InFocus, it immediately resonated with us," said Jake Slatnick, Founder and CEO of FreePower. "We've always believed the best technology is the kind you don't have to think about. This wasn't simply about integrating wireless charging into cabinetry–it was about helping technology support the moments that matter most instead of competing for them. Together, we've created an experience that's effortless, intuitive and designed to fit naturally into everyday life."
The InFocus Drawer is taking a stand against phone addiction with the belief that great design can quietly shape everyday behavior. By giving devices a natural place to charge out of sight, it transforms an ordinary routine into an opportunity to spend more focused time together.
The InFocus Drawer by Fabuwood x FreePower is available beginning November 16, 2026 through authorized Fabuwood dealers nationwide.
