HomeServe and USAA Team Up to Help Homeowners Prevent Costly Repairs

Educational resources and optional home repair plans help eligible USAA members navigate homeownership with greater confidence

NORWALK, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--HomeServe, a trusted provider of home repair solutions, today announced a new relationship with USAA to offer eligible members access to optional home repair service plans designed to help manage the cost and disruption of unexpected home system repairs.

"Our goal is simple: provide clear, straightforward information that helps homeowners protect what matters most and make informed decisions with confidence," said Tom Rusin, CEO of HomeServe.

By combining homeowner education with access to optional protection plans, USAA members can better understand and prepare for repairs to critical home systems that may be their responsibility to maintain.

As part of the launch, eligible members will receive information about common home repair responsibilities and the coverage options available through HomeServe.

Helping Homeowners Avoid Costly Surprises

Many homeowners are unaware that repairs to systems on their property, including exterior water and sewer lines, electrical components and other essential infrastructure, are often their responsibility. Damage caused by normal wear and tear may not be covered by a basic homeowners insurance policy or maintained by a utility provider.

By increasing awareness of these often-overlooked responsibilities, HomeServe aims to help families — including the military families USAA serves — make informed decisions and avoid unexpected repair costs.

"Our members who are homeowners are often surprised to learn they're responsible for critical systems that can be expensive to repair," said Ryan Barth, vice president of Member Value Proposition at USAA. "Together, we’re helping eligible USAA members better understand those risks and explore options that can help protect them from unexpected expenses."

Access to Home Repair Protection

Eligible members can choose from optional service plans covering a range of home systems, including plumbing, electrical and HVAC systems.

When a covered repair is needed, plan holders can contact HomeServe's customer service center 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to schedule the repair. HomeServe coordinates repairs through its network of local contractors and manages the process from scheduling through completion and payment on covered repairs.

Covered repairs are backed by a one-year repair guarantee, subject to program terms and conditions and benefit amounts.

Built on Transparency and Education

HomeServe is introducing this new relationship with a focus on helping USAA members understand both the program and the communications they may receive about available coverage options.

Drawing on its experience supporting millions of homeowners across North America, HomeServe believes proactive education helps everyone understand their responsibilities, evaluate protection options and make confident decisions about their homes.

"Education and transparency are essential when introducing a new homeowner program," said Tom Rusin, CEO of HomeServe. "Our goal is simple: provide clear, straightforward information that helps homeowners protect what matters most and make informed decisions with confidence."
