N-able Launches AI-Accelerated Vulnerability and Patch Management

Automated workflows reduce vulnerability exposure for over 340 third-party applications from days to minutes

BURLINGTON, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--N-able, Inc. (NYSE: NABL), a global cybersecurity company delivering business resilience, today announced the launch of AI-accelerated Vulnerability and Patch Management, giving IT teams and service providers a vital defense against increasingly industrialized cybercrime.

AI-accelerated Vulnerability and Patch Management will see enhancements across N-able’s Unified Endpoint Management (UEM) platform that will reduce the patching window from days to minutes. A continuous, closed-loop workflow scans third-party applications for vulnerabilities, prioritizes the most urgent patches, remediates directly without switching tools, and verifies that the update is complete.

Cybercriminals are using AI to change how they operate, creating a new reality for security teams. Vulnerability research that took skilled attackers weeks to complete can now be automated in hours. Exploits are being generated, weaponized, and packaged into attack chains at machine speed. To strengthen defenses, IT teams and service providers need to rethink their approach. A key part of this will be reducing patching windows without complicating logistics or increasing the risk of downtime.

N-able’s patch management workflow will allow IT teams to close that gap through automation and AI-guidance at each step of the process, with no context switching required:

  • Scan: On-demand vulnerability scanning covers over 900 third-party applications, with automatic remediation of 350+ applications and their thousands of versions—on Windows, macOS, and Linux endpoints. Most vulnerabilities being exploited are in third-party applications, rather than the operating system, making this wide coverage invaluable.
  • Prioritization: Common vulnerability scores tell only part of the story when it comes to real-world risk. Exploitability status provides better context to prioritizing patches based on what is actively being exploited. N-able’s Vulnerability and Patching AI experts, part of AI assistant N-zo, take these data points and help to prioritize the patches most urgently needed.
  • Remediate: Patching is part of the same workflow, eliminating the need to switch to another tool or manual hand-off to a separate patch console, no matter the application or operating system.
  • Verify: An on-demand rescan provides evidence that the patch was applied. Any failures are not only reported by N-zo, but also with insights into why a patch failed and whether it's safe to redeploy. Mitigation scripts are provided when patching isn't possible.

New capabilities are available from a single “pane of glass”, along with insights into risk, remediation progress, and patch compliance reports.

“Patching has always been part of IT best practice, but the landscape has changed significantly. AI-assisted exploits mean that human speed simply isn’t enough to stay a step ahead,” said Brendan Griffin, Director of Threat Research at N-able. “AI-accelerated Vulnerability and Patch Management gives IT teams and service providers a key part of the solution, automating the entire patching process from scanning to verification from a single workflow, allowing teams to remediate before the exploit lands.”
