Pediatrica Health Group Achieves PCMH Recognition With Distinction in Behavioral Health Integration Across All Florida Practices

NCQA recognition reflects Company’s commitment to care for the whole child – body and mind

MIAMI--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Pediatrica Health Group, a rapidly growing multi-site pediatric primary care organization dedicated to delivering Next Generation CareSM to families, today announced that all of its practice locations across the State of Florida have achieved Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) recognition with the Distinction in Behavioral Health Integration. This designation marks yet another milestone for Pediatrica as it forges ahead, purpose-driven to expand equitable access to quality pediatric primary care, support healthier outcomes for kids, healthier communities, and drive lasting change to relieve burdens on our healthcare system long-term.

Patient-centered, coordinated care that supports access, communication, and patient engagement…

The National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) Patient-Centered Medical Home is a model of care that puts patients at the forefront, aiming to build stronger care relationships between patients and their clinical care teams. PCMH standards emphasize the use of systematic, patient-centered, coordinated care that supports access, communication, and patient engagement.

Research1 shows that PCMHs improve quality and the patient experience, and increase staff satisfaction - while reducing health care costs. Practices that earn recognition have made a commitment to continuous quality improvement and a patient-centered approach to care.

The program reflects the input of the American College of Physicians (ACP), American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP), American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and American Osteopathic Association (AOA) and others.

“Behavioral health is health care, too…”

“From day one, we set out to change the way families experience pediatric primary care. Patient-centered means more to us than simply nurturing physical wellbeing – behavioral health is health care, too, and it’s a vital piece of the wellness picture that supports brighter outcomes for kids - especially with early intervention,” said Roberto Palenzuela, founder and CEO of Pediatrica Health Group. “I am incredibly proud of the work our clinical and administrative teams have invested to get us to this goal. It’s a win for all the families who trust us with their care.”

Primary care practices that earn NCQA's Distinction in Behavioral Health Integration have put the right resources, evidence-based protocols, standardized tools and quality measures in place to support the broad needs of patients with behavioral health conditions. These practices provide comprehensive whole-person care that acknowledges the behavioral health needs of the individual beyond the core requirements of NCQA PCMH recognition, and they have proven that they have the appropriate care team in place to manage the broad needs of patients with conditions related to behavioral health.
