Standard Solar Acquires 43.3 MW Illinois Community Solar Portfolio from Trajectory Energy Partners

13-project Tallgrass Portfolio expands company’s growing Illinois presence while bringing additional locally generated energy and subscriber savings to communities across the state

ROCKVILLE, Md.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Standard Solar, a leading developer, owner and operator of commercial and community solar assets, today announced the acquisition of a 13-project community solar portfolio totaling approximately 43.3 megawatts (MW) from Trajectory Energy Partners (Trajectory).

"These are exactly the kinds of strong, well-developed projects we want to add to our portfolio," said Harry Benson, Director of Business Development, Standard Solar.

Trajectory developed the Tallgrass Portfolio, and Standard Solar will take the projects through construction, then own and operate them for the long term.

The acquisition builds on Standard Solar’s growing investment in Illinois, where community solar has become an important part of the state’s energy market. Projects span communities across northern, central and southern Illinois, including Du Quoin, Lincoln, Marengo, Poplar Grove, Rockford, Village of Loves Park and Village of Richton Park and are expected to reach commercial operation in phases beginning in 2027 and continuing into 2028.

“Trajectory has done the hard work required to bring a portfolio of this scale forward across multiple Illinois communities,” said Harry Benson, Director of Business Development, Standard Solar. “These are exactly the kinds of strong, well-developed projects we want to add to our portfolio. By bringing Standard Solar’s capital, safe harbor panel inventory, execution capabilities and long-term ownership model to the partnership, we can take what Trajectory has built and move these projects toward operation and decades of energy production.”

Once operational, the portfolio will expand access to community solar for Illinois residents and businesses, allowing subscribers to benefit from locally generated solar energy without installing solar panels on their own roofs. The projects will also provide long-term economic benefits to host communities and landowners.

“From the beginning, our approach has been to develop projects that work for the communities and landowners hosting them,” said Jon Carson, Founder and Managing Partner, Trajectory. “The Tallgrass projects reflect that approach and the years of building strong local partnerships to successfully navigate the complexities of early-stage development. Standard Solar brings the experience, resources and long-term commitment these projects need for their next chapter, and we’re thrilled to see this portfolio move forward toward construction and operation under their stewardship.”

The 13 projects range from approximately 2.4 MW to 6.6 MW and include:

  • Red Bird West, Red Bird East and Stovepipe West – Lincoln
  • Stovepipe East – Logan County
  • Hawk Haven – Village of Loves Park
  • Grannys Creek North, Grannys Creek South and H and R North – Du Quoin
  • Lanceleaf – Marengo
  • Prairie North – Poplar Grove
  • Blue Aster and Fox Sparrow – Rockford
  • Barn Owl – Village of Richton Park
