QStar Technologies Recognized as a Leader and Enduring Innovator in the 2026 GigaOm Radar for S3 Gateways for Tape

DENVER--(BUSINESS WIRE)--QStar Technologies has been recognized as both a Leader and Enduring Innovator in the 2026 GigaOm Radar Report for S3 Gateways for Tape. The report highlights QStar’s extensive tape expertise and its ability to connect proven archive infrastructure with modern S3-based applications and workflows.

The recognition reflects the growing importance of S3-to-Tape technology as organizations seek to combine modern object-based applications with the economics, scalability and cyber resilience of tape storage. QStar’s software-defined approach enables customers to extend existing tape investments, avoid proprietary hardware dependencies and build flexible archive environments that can evolve alongside changing storage requirements.

QStar Archive Manager and Global ArchiveSpace provide S3 access to tape archives while supporting object storage, cloud and NAS/RAID within the same archive environment. This gives organizations the flexibility to combine storage technologies while maintaining consistent access to their data.

Archive Manager provides a single-node solution, while Global ArchiveSpace extends the architecture to an active-active cluster of up to 64 nodes, incorporating a global namespace, node failover and S3 load balancing for increased scalability and availability.

The GigaOm report highlights QStar’s technical capabilities in optimizing tape performance, access and operational efficiency. Flash or NVMe caching, parallel tape activity and retrieval requests organized by media location help improve efficiency and performance. Administrators can also pre-stage selected content into cache ahead of anticipated demand. On appropriately configured infrastructure, aggregate throughput across multiple tape drives can exceed one gigabyte per second.
