The SBB Research Group Foundation Sponsors More Than Words

BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--More Than Words collaborated in a volunteer initiative alongside the SBB Research Group Foundation, which partners with local nonprofits through its Champion A Charity Program.

Volunteers visited More Than Words in Boston, Massachusetts to learn about the organization’s mission and assist with its bookselling operation. More Than Words empowers young adults ages 16 to 24 who have experienced homelessness, foster care, or court involvement by providing hands-on job experience and individualized resources.

The visit began with a tour led by a programming participant who shared how More Than Words combines hands-on job experience with resources tailored to each young person’s needs. Volunteers then worked alongside staff and program participants in the book warehouse, selecting books from shelves, matching them with shipping paperwork, and preparing nearly 1,000 books for shipment.

“Working alongside the More Than Words team was an incredibly rewarding experience,” said Robert Davis, a volunteer with the SBBRG Foundation. “Hearing directly about the individualized resources available to each young person made the impact of the program especially meaningful. It was also rewarding to work together as a team and know that something as simple as preparing books for shipment contributes to the organization’s larger mission.”

Book sales generate revenue that helps More Than Words provide programming and resources for the young people it serves. Participants receive assistance with immediate needs and individualized resources while gaining experience in areas such as logistics, inventory, finance, and management. The program also provides opportunities for personal and professional development, including assistance with resumes, job applications, interviews, and career preparation. Funding associated with the initiative will help More Than Words continue its core programming.
