Lincoln Financial and TGR Foundation Launch Bold Starts, a Program to Empower Youth Through Financial Education Opportunities

New program to launch in Philadelphia, building on broader partnership to expand opportunities for youth and their families through the Cobbs Creek Golf and Education Campus

PHILADELPHIA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Lincoln Financial Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Lincoln Financial (NYSE: LNC), and TGR Foundation today announced the launch of “Bold Starts, championed by Lincoln Financial,” a new program designed to help youth build money-management skills, develop financial confidence and prepare for life-long success.

The program, which launches this fall at the Smilow Woodland TGR Learning Lab, located at the Cobbs Creek Golf and Education Campus in West Philadelphia, will provide students with engaging, age-appropriate financial education experiences. The curriculum introduces key concepts such as budgeting, saving, goal-setting and financial decision-making. Through interactive lessons and real-world examples, participants will gain foundational financial knowledge that can help them navigate future educational, career and personal milestones.

The investments in both Cobbs Creek Foundation and TGR Foundation are part of Lincoln Financial’s commitment, through its Foundation, to building stronger communities through nonprofit partnerships with the long-term goal of helping people build secure financial futures for themselves and their families. The company advances that mission through three priorities – financial wellness, youth education and human services – that are fundamental in shaping bright futures. Earlier this year, Lincoln Financial and Cobbs Creek Foundation celebrated the opening of the Lincoln Financial Center at Cobbs Creek, a community space that serves as a hub for education, events and neighborhood engagement as part of the campus’s broader revitalization.

"Bold Starts represents a natural extension of our commitment to the Cobbs Creek community and our belief that every young person deserves the tools and resources to build a brighter financial future,” said Allison Green Johnson, Chief Belonging and Community Impact Officer and President of the Lincoln Financial Foundation. “Through this program, we’re helping young people build practical skills today that can support their goals and aspirations for years to come.”

As the transformation of the Cobbs Creek Campus continues, Lincoln Financial Foundation and TGR Foundation are excited to begin delivering financial wellness programming that expands access to learning, mentorship and personal growth opportunities for the next generation. Later this fall, TGR Foundation will also pilot a financial education workshop for students and their families, extending the impact of Bold Starts beyond the classroom by helping families build financial confidence together. As an extension to the program, Lincoln Financial leadership and employees will participate in an industry day at the Smilow Woodland TGR Learning Lab, providing students with experiences that help them explore career paths, connect with financial professionals and build practical skills. Following the roll-out of the program in Philadelphia, Bold Starts will be available to all students who participate at TGR Foundation’s Learning Labs nationwide beginning in 2027.

“Helping young people build a brighter future means preparing them for both the work they’ll do and the financial decisions they’ll face,” said Hrag Hamalian, CEO of TGR Foundation. “Through Bold Starts and our partnership with Lincoln Financial Foundation, students in Philadelphia, Southern California and beyond will learn to build financial skills, connect with professionals and explore careers they may never have considered. Those experiences can help them see what’s possible and take meaningful steps toward their goals.”

Founded by Tiger Woods in 1996, TGR Foundation empowers students to pursue their passions through programs focused on STEAM-based educational enrichment, career readiness and personal development. The non-profit organization opened its flagship TGR Learning Lab Anaheim in 2006 and celebrated the opening of its second Lab in 2025 at Cobbs Creek, expanding access to opportunities for Philadelphia-area youth. Through its network of Learning Labs and programs, TGR Foundation has served more than 240,000 students.
