ELGi Sponsorship of Brett Becker Racing Puts Compressed Air to Work on and off the Track

CHARLOTTE, N.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--ELGi is the primary sponsor of Brett Becker Racing (BBR) for the 2026 sprint car season, supporting the team both on the track and through compressed air equipment used for race car preparation and maintenance at its Odessa, Texas, shop.

BBR competes at the highest level of dirt sprint car racing, with events reaching fans through national television and streaming coverage.

Team owner and crew chief Brett Becker has spent 13 years in sprint car racing and also serves as chief operating officer of Accel Compression, which sells and supports ELGi air compressors for oil and gas customers throughout the Permian Basin.

“We’ve put a lot of ELGi compressors into the field and seen the reliability firsthand,” Becker said. “So when we put ELGi on the race car, I knew exactly what I was putting my name behind. ELGi equipment is doing the heavy lifting in the shop to help us get the car ready and keep the program moving.”

Portable air supports chassis preparation

BBR uses an ELGi D400, 375 CFM portable compressor for abrasive blasting, stripping sprint car chassis before powder coating. The process removes dirt, debris and worn finishes accumulated during racing, preparing components for refinishing and rebuilding.

The sustained airflow required for abrasive blasting demonstrates the compressor’s suitability for demanding applications beyond motorsports, including automotive restoration, fabrication and industrial maintenance.

Compressor powers race shop operations

Inside the shop, an ELGi EN11-150 rotary screw compressor supplies compressed air for tire inflation, pneumatic grinders, cleaning and general race car maintenance.

The system provides continuous-duty performance during extended repair periods, while its duplex configuration allows the team to alternate between compressors and maintain air capacity if one unit is unavailable.

Low operating noise also helps technicians communicate while working.

“You don’t want to have to wear earmuffs just to work in your own shop,” Becker said. “With the ELGi, we can be in the same room with the compressor running and still have a normal conversation. That makes a big difference when everyone is working together on the car.”

The partnership connects ELGi’s growing presence in North American motorsports with its established role supplying compressed air solutions for industrial, automotive and oil and gas applications.
