Queue to Introduce Autonomous Robotic Pharmacy Kiosk That Fills Prescriptions in Under 30 Seconds
Dispenses 340 unique medications. Every pill is verified by machine vision. Installed in less than a day. No membership required.
NEWARK, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Queue, the company building the world’s first fully autonomous robotic pharmacy, today announced its pharmacy kiosk for community pharmacies, retail pharmacies, and urgent care and outpatient clinics.
The kiosk works like a pharmacy without the wait. A provider sends a prescription and the patient receives a pickup code. The kiosk fills, verifies and labels the vial, while Queue’s software handles insurance and payment. The patient scans the code and leaves with their medication.
Pharmacy kiosks have arrived. This week, TIME named Amazon’s pharmacy kiosk one of its Best Inventions of 2026, and the Cleveland Clinic announced it is using a medication dispensing kiosk. Those systems work within their own clinic networks. Queue’s kiosk is built to go further.
Queue’s mission is to reduce health inequality by helping eliminate pharmacy deserts, freeing pharmacists to care for patients and dispensing medicine at the point of care. Almost 18% of Americans live in a pharmacy desert, according to research published through the National Institutes of Health.
“Where you live shouldn’t determine whether you can get your medicine,” said Nick Desai, CEO and cofounder of Queue. “Our goal is to put medicine at the point of care and give pharmacists their time back for patients.”
The most advanced pharmacy kiosk
- 340 unique medications, stocked from wholesale bottles to fill thousands of prescriptions, plus boxed prescriptions and unit-of-use drugs
- About 30 seconds per prescription, with machine vision verifying every pill
- Installed in less than a day at any care site, with no tie to a provider network
- No membership or fees for patients
- Insurance and payment handled in software, with dual-stage verification
- Fully auditable, with chain of custody from sealed bottle to patient vial
- Secure, locked, monitored and protected against tampering
- Pharmacists on call by phone or text
“Pharmacy has an infrastructure problem. While the industry has been forced to work around labor shortages, store closures and broken unit economics, Queue has taken a fundamentally different approach by automating the physical fulfillment layer itself,” said Will Coffield of Riot Ventures, a Queue investor.
How it will be used
- Community pharmacies add locations without opening new stores.
- Retail pharmacies automate filling and verification behind the counter and directly to patients.
- Urgent care and outpatient clinics send patients home with their prescriptions.
Queue will showcase the kiosk during the J.P. Morgan Healthcare Conference in San Francisco Jan. 11-14. Media attending the event can arrange an interview with Nick Desai or request a live demonstration by reaching out via email at PRforQueue@bospar.com.
