New Dollar Tree Impact Fund will invest $40 million to strengthen local communities across the U.S. and Canada

CHESAPEAKE, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dollar Tree (NASDAQ: DLTR) is marking 40 years of bringing incredible value to customers with two milestones that celebrate its roots and invest in its future: the opening of its 9,500th store in Suffolk, Virginia, and a $40 million investment through the newly established Dollar Tree Impact Fund to expand access to everyday essentials and support the well-being of the communities where Dollar Tree operates across the U.S. and Canada.

"Forty years ago, Dollar Tree started right here in Hampton Roads with a simple promise to deliver unbeatable value, convenience and thrill-of-the-hunt discovery. Today, 9,500 stores later, that promise is stronger than ever," said Mike Creedon.

"Forty years ago, Dollar Tree started right here in Hampton Roads with a simple promise to deliver unbeatable value, convenience, and thrill-of-the-hunt discovery. Today, 9,500 stores later, that promise is stronger than ever," said Mike Creedon, Chief Executive Officer of Dollar Tree. "As we look to the future, we’re proud to build on our legacy with a $40 million investment in the people and places that have been part of our story, helping create more opportunities for our associates, our customers, and the communities we call home.”

Dollar Tree’s 9,500th Store Opening

Located at 6150 College Drive in Suffolk, Dollar Tree's 9,500th store represents a meaningful homecoming for a company with deep roots in southeastern Virginia.

From its beginnings in Norfolk to its headquarters in Chesapeake, Dollar Tree has grown into a national retailer serving more than 100 million U.S. households annually. The new Suffolk store carries forward the company’s 40-year-old commitment to delivering value, convenience, and discovery, offering customers a broad assortment of everyday essentials, seasonal favorites, and unexpected finds.

To mark this milestone, more than 100 Dollar Tree associates will join Keep Suffolk Beautiful for a community cleanup as part of Keep America Beautiful’s Greatest American Cleanup, a national effort celebrating America’s 250th birthday.

$40 Million for Stronger Communities

In honor of its 40th anniversary, Dollar Tree is committing $40 million through the new Dollar Tree Impact Fund of the Hampton Roads Community Foundation to support nonprofit organizations and community-led projects that address local needs and help neighborhoods thrive.

The investment reflects Dollar Tree's belief that creating value means more than serving customers. It also means strengthening the communities where its associates, customers, and neighbors live and work. The Impact Fund will build on that legacy by investing in people, families, and community organizations where Dollar Tree can make a meaningful difference.

The Dollar Tree Impact Fund will focus on three areas:

  • Access to essentials: Expanding access to food and other everyday necessities to help individuals and families meet their basic needs.
  • Economic opportunity: Supporting career readiness and job skills training to help people build brighter futures.
  • Thriving communities: Creating cleaner, safer, and more welcoming spaces where neighbors can connect, gather, and grow together.

Dollar Tree will bring this commitment to life through programs with its national nonprofit partners, more than 400 community impact projects across the country, and the launch of the Kindness Grant Program, an associate-directed program that empowers associates to help award grants to nonprofit organizations making a difference in the communities where they live and work.
