SkillBit Launches Learning Paths to Build Job-Ready Cybersecurity Teams

New SkillBit Labs feature turns a job description into role-based, hands-on training in seconds

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Security leaders can now give every new hire a training plan built for the job they were hired to do. SkillBit today announced Learning Paths, a new capability in SkillBit Labs that turns a job description or training objective into a staged, hands-on path in seconds, ready to assign within minutes.

The launch targets one of security's most expensive blind spots: onboarding. In SkillBit's 2026 Micro-Training Survey Report, 64% of more than 200 CISOs, CIOs and security leaders said three months is an acceptable time for a new hire to deliver value, yet nearly 80% said it takes six months or longer. Leaders traced the delay to gaps in general IT knowledge (55%) and security processes (50%), not tool-specific skills. Those are the role-specific foundations that generic, one-size-fits-all onboarding rarely covers.

Each path is organized into stages of lessons and hands-on challenges built for technical security teams. Managers can edit any stage, assign paths to groups and see where each person stands. Because challenges run in live, proctored labs, results reflect skills demonstrated and are tied to real work.

“Most training starts with a broad content library and hopes it fits the job. Learning Paths starts with the job itself,” said Thomas Rogers, co-founder and president of SkillBit. “Every stage ends in hands-on work, so a security leader can see what each person can do, where the gaps are, and whether training is closing them.”

Key capabilities include:

  • Skills visibility for managers: See where each person stands on a path, based on hands-on challenges solved, not time spent.
  • Role-based path creation: Generate a staged path from a job description or training objective in seconds.
  • Customizable progression: Add or remove content, reorder stages, set difficulty and require sequential completion.
  • Group assignment: Assign published paths to new hires and teams within minutes.
