Trex Company to Ring NYSE Opening Bell in Celebration of 30th Anniversary

Outdoor Living Leader Commemorates Three Decades of Innovation and Growth as It Looks to Define the Future of the Backyard

WINCHESTER, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The executive leadership of Trex Company [NYSE: TREX], the world’s largest manufacturer of wood-alternative decking and railing, and a leading brand of high-performance, low-maintenance outdoor living products, will ring The Opening Bell® at the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) today to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the company’s founding. The celebration recognizes three decades of innovation and growth that started with one category-defining invention and continues to redefine the future of outdoor living.

Established in 1996, Trex has evolved from a single-product manufacturer into a global outdoor living company, expanding its portfolio to help homeowners create beautiful, low-maintenance outdoor spaces. Today, the company offers a growing range of solutions designed to transform the backyard into a seamless extension of the home.

“Ringing the Opening Bell is a special way to recognize the people, partnerships and culture of innovation that have shaped Trex over the past 30 years,” said Adam Zambanini, President and Chief Executive Officer of Trex Company. “Our founders challenged the status quo by creating a better alternative to wood, and that entrepreneurial spirit continues to define us. As we celebrate this milestone, we’re also looking ahead to an exciting new chapter and our opportunity to become the defining brand in outdoor living.”

Joining Zambanini on the podium at the New York Stock Exchange will be members of Trex’s executive leadership team.

Celebrating 30 Years of Innovation

In 1996, four executives from Mobil’s Composite Products Division decided to take a breakthrough technology – composite decking made from recycled plastic film and industrial wood scrap – and form a new company. The business ultimately became known as Trex Company and established an entirely new category of outdoor living products. Over the past 30 years, Trex has grown into a global outdoor living company and one of the largest recyclers of plastic film in North America – transforming more than 6.4 billion pounds of plastic film into beautiful and durable deck boards.

Trex debuted on the NYSE in 1999 and currently markets a portfolio that extends beyond decking and railing to include fencing, deck drainage, lighting, pergolas, outdoor kitchens, furniture, lattice and other outdoor living accessories. The company employs nearly 2,000 people worldwide, operates manufacturing facilities in Virginia, Nevada and Arkansas, and distributes products through more than 6,700 retail locations across six continents.

Looking Ahead

The Opening Bell ceremony comes as Trex enters its next era of growth, with a vision to become the defining brand in outdoor living and grow the business to $2 billion in annual revenue by 2030. The company’s strategy centers on continued investment in manufacturing capacity, product innovation, strategic partnerships and digital solutions designed to make working with Trex a seamless experience for customers, contractors and consumers.

“We’ve spent 30 years earning the trust of homeowners, contractors and channel partners by consistently delivering innovation and performance,” noted Zambanini. “We’re proud of what we’ve accomplished, but we’re even more excited about what comes next. Our opportunity extends far beyond the deck, and we are investing to lead the future of outdoor living with innovative, sustainable solutions that make it easier than ever for homeowners to create the backyard of their dreams.”
