Factory Partners with Databricks to Bring Autonomous Software Development to the Enterprise

  • Factory is now available on the Databricks Marketplace for enterprises to modernize their legacy data estates and build new agentic applications.
  • Factory’s agents are now powered by frontier open weight and proprietary models from Databricks Unity Gateway, a leader in model inference performance and reliability

SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Factory, the leader in autonomous software engineering, today announced a partnership with Databricks, the data and AI company. Enterprises can now deploy Factory’s autonomous software agents, called Droids, with data and models they already govern in Databricks. Factory can run on an enterprise’s existing infrastructure, and eligible customers purchase Factory through Databricks Marketplace.

Factory’s autonomous software agents now use frontier open weight and proprietary models from Databricks Unity Gateway. The combination of model choice, along with leading open weight model inference performance and reliability, enables Factory’s agents to help enterprises ship product software faster, at lower cost, and with strong security.

“AI is now building software faster than any team ever could,” said Ali Ghodsi, Co-founder and CEO of Databricks. “Factory agents, powered by models from Unity Gateway and governed through Unity Catalog, give customers a faster path from code to production, with the security and control enterprises require.”

“Together, our teams will help customers ship data and AI applications faster, migrate and modernize with less cost and risk, and find and fix security vulnerabilities at machine speed,” said Matan Grinberg, co-founder and CEO of Factory.

Three ways enterprises can use Factory and Databricks together

  1. Build data and AI applications: Droids turn product requirements into tested pull requests for Lakeflow pipelines, Spark jobs, Databricks Apps, and Agent Bricks agents governed by Unity Catalog. Customers report shipping features 9x faster by using Factory.
  2. Migrate legacy data platforms: Droids translate legacy warehouse and operational data stores into Lakehouse and Lakebase-native code. Droids build the code and validate the results while engineers review. Customers have used Factory to cut migration time by more than 95% using the platform.
  3. Remediate security threats faster: Looking ahead, Factory and Databricks plan to explore connecting Droids to security findings from Databricks Lakewatch, so teams can patch affected code and open tested pull requests.

Built on Databricks, brought to market together

Factory builds on the Databricks Data + AI Platform, including Databricks Model Serving for frontier and open-weight model inference, as well as Lakehouse for product analytics. Factory will also use Databricks as a data platform. Factory and Databricks will work closely in the field to provide customers with reference architectures, solution accelerators, and case studies. Factory is now a Databricks ISV partner. Customers with universal commitments to Databricks can apply their existing commitment to purchase Factory on Databricks Marketplace and use Droids directly with the Databricks Data + AI Platform.
