ModMed Kicks Off Largest MOMENTUM Conference and Previews New AI Capabilities for Specialty Medical Practices

Nearly 2,000 attendees gather in Orlando to learn about The AI-Powered PracticeTM and hear from keynote speaker Abby Wambach

ORLANDO, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--ModMed®, a leading provider of software and services to specialty medical practices, today announced the opening of MOMENTUM 2026, its largest annual user conference to date. Nearly 2,000 attendees have gathered at the Gaylord Palms Resort & Convention Center in Orlando. From October 16–18, specialty physicians, practice administrators, and clinical staff will see live demonstrations of The AI-Powered Practice, take part in hands-on training, and hear ModMed's latest product announcements.

"MOMENTUM has never been bigger, and that tells you exactly where specialty medicine is headed. Physicians, administrators, and their teams come to Orlando to see The AI-Powered Practice working inside real specialty workflows," said Justin Steinman, Chief Marketing Officer at ModMed. "We're building The AI-Powered Practice one specialty at a time, because a dermatology practice and a urology practice don't run on the same workflows. We're so excited to share our progress with our clients and learn from them where we can get even better."

Growing momentum across specialty practices

Specialty practices face rising costs, staffing constraints, reimbursement pressure, and growing payer complexity. Many still run documentation, scheduling, billing, and reporting on separate systems. That creates duplicate work and delays that affect both staff and revenue.

The AI-Powered Practice is designed to help embed AI across those workflows, helping to eliminate the excessive administrative burden while providers and staff review and approve the final work.

ModMed has added hundreds of new practices in 2026 and shipped multiple AI-powered products this year. Its specialty-specific platform is trusted by nearly 50,000 providers. ModMed continues to invest in the core products that these providers use every day. Its engineering teams have delivered nearly 20% more core feature enhancements per month in 2026 than in 2025. ModMed Scribe, introduced at MOMENTUM 2025, has now been used by providers to capture more than 2.5 million patient visits.

AI-Powered Practice capabilities previewed on the main stage

During the opening session at MOMENTUM, ModMed leaders will walk through a simulated orthopedic patient journey, from scheduling to final claim. The demonstration will show how multiple capabilities are designed to work together, including:

  • AI Scheduling: Lets patients request appointments through a conversational experience, which can help reduce inbound phone volume at the front desk
  • AI Clinical Summary: Surfaces key details from the patient chart and new intake forms before the visit, so providers can review history without digging through prior notes
  • ModMed Scribe With Smart Merge: Blends ambient AI documentation with existing chart data into a single note for provider review, which can help reduce duplicate data entry
  • AI-Assisted Prior Authorization: Flags when a payer requires authorization, prepopulates the form with justification from the note, and attaches supporting documentation for provider review before submission
  • Patient Retention: Detects cancellations, texts patients a link to reschedule, and offers open slots to waitlisted patients, which can help practices fill openings with less manual outreach

Each capability that will be shown is live today, in a client beta program, or in development for release in 2027.

Olympic gold medalist Abby Wambach to keynote

Abby Wambach — two-time Olympic gold medalist, FIFA World Cup champion, and one of the most decorated athletes in the history of women's soccer — will be the keynote speaker at MOMENTUM 2026. Her keynote will draw on a career built on elite team performance and resilience, offering specialty practice leaders a practical framework for building high-performing teams in a demanding environment. The session reflects a central theme of this year's conference: that The AI-Powered Practice succeeds not through technology alone, but through the coordinated effort of physicians, clinical staff, administrators, and billing teams working together with tools designed to support every role.

MOMENTUM caps 90 days of AI-Powered Practice news

The conference follows a steady run of product and company announcements:

  • ModMed RCM AI Platform (August 4, 2026): This agentic AI platform is designed to help specialty practices reduce denials, accelerate claim resolution, and lower the cost to collect. It has five integrated capabilities: AI RCM Agents, the AI Workflow Manager, the AI Billing Assistant, the AI RCM Advisor, and the Specialty Intelligence Engine. All five work within a human-in-the-loop architecture that keeps billing teams in control. Portions of the platform already support ModMed RCM Services clients. A limited beta program for self-managed clients is expected to begin in the fourth quarter of 2026, with broader availability beginning in 2027.
  • Collaboration with IntrinsiQ Specialty Solutions (August 6, 2026): IntrinsiQ selected ModMed as the preferred go-forward EHR provider for UroChartEHR® clients as it retires UroChartEHR. The collaboration gives those practices a supported path to ModMed's specialty-specific EHR and ambient AI scribe technology.
  • New ModMed gGastro® Suite (October 7, 2026): A multi-year investment embeds AI across clinical documentation, ASC workflows, revenue cycle management, and practice operations for gastroenterology practices. A modernized user experience rolls out in waves through the first quarter of 2027, starting with a redesigned My Activities dashboard, the top request from gGastro users. ModMed Scribe for Gastroenterology is now in beta, and general availability is expected in early 2027.
  • ModMed AI Analytics (announced today): Users can ask questions and generate custom reports in conversational, natural language instead of searching through rigid dashboards. AI Analytics will span ModMed Patient Engagement, EMA®, gGastro, and RCM. It's expected to arrive for ModMed Patient Engagement later this year, followed by EMA and gGastro in the first half of 2027.

New brand campaign and HERO Awards

At MOMENTUM, ModMed will also introduce clients to its new brand campaign, "It's not magic. It's ModMed." The campaign spotlights The AI-Powered Practice across clinical documentation, revenue cycle management, patient engagement, and practice management. ModMed will support this campaign throughout 2027 with streaming ads, podcast ads, social media, and digital ads.

ModMed will also name the latest winners of the ModMed Healthcare Excellence in Refining Operations (HERO) Awards. The awards recognize managers, administrators, and other practice leaders in key operational roles who have used ModMed solutions to optimize workflows and improve operational efficiency.
