Hertz Car Sales Expands Three-Day Test-Drive Experience to 300+ Hertz Locations Nationwide

TestDrive+ gives shoppers up to three days to experience a vehicle before deciding whether to buy

ESTERO, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Hertz Car Sales today announced that its extended test-drive program is now available at more than 300 participating Hertz neighborhood rental locations nationwide. Now called TestDrive+, the program gives shoppers the opportunity to take home the exact vehicle they are considering and experience it in their everyday lives.

TestDrive+ responds to growing demand for more time behind the wheel before purchase. New Hertz Car Sales research found that 59% of used-car buyers would seek out or use a three-day test drive before making one of life’s biggest purchases.*

“Buying a car is a big decision, and customers have told us they want more time and flexibility to get it right,” said Jeff Adams, Executive Vice President of Hertz Car Sales. “By bringing TestDrive+ to more Hertz neighborhood rental locations, we’re making it easier for shoppers to experience a vehicle on their terms and choose with confidence.”

Formerly known as Rent2Buy, TestDrive+ offers more than a traditional test drive. Instead of a short drive with a salesperson, shoppers can evaluate the vehicle independently – an approach that sets Hertz Car Sales apart among major used-car retailers.

For a daily drive fee, shoppers can keep the vehicle for up to three days to see how it handles their commute, fits in the garage and accommodates passengers, car seats, groceries or gear. Hertz waives the fee if they purchase the vehicle.**

The additional time helps shoppers understand how a vehicle fits their daily routine – from the commute and garage fit to passengers, car seats, groceries or gear. Even as consumers grow more comfortable researching and purchasing vehicles online, many still value seeing a vehicle firsthand.

How TestDrive+ Works:

  1. Choose a vehicle. Browse eligible TestDrive+ vehicles on HertzCarSales.com and schedule a time to pick up the one you want to try at a Hertz Car Sales location or participating Hertz neighborhood rental location.
  2. Live with it for up to three days. Drive the vehicle under real-life conditions for a daily drive fee.
  3. Decide with confidence. Return the vehicle if it’s not the right fit or purchase it and Hertz will waive the fee.

TestDrive+ is part of Hertz Car Sales’ broader effort to make vehicle shopping more flexible and convenient. Customers can explore high-quality used vehicles at Hertz Car Sales and participating Hertz neighborhood rental locations, or shop and complete their purchase online through HertzCarSales.com, Amazon Autos or eBay.

Across these shopping options, customers can browse thousands of near-new cars, SUVs and trucks from the Hertz rental fleet. The majority of eligible TestDrive+ vehicles are 2025 or 2026 models, underscoring the breadth of newer inventory available through the program.

All Hertz Car Sales vehicles are regularly and professionally maintained. Eligible vehicles come with 100K Mile Protection, a 3-year/100,000-mile limited powertrain warranty at no additional charge, subject to program terms and eligibility requirements. Together with transparent, no-haggle pricing, these benefits provide added peace of mind and long-term value.

Shoppers can learn more about TestDrive+ and explore available vehicles near them at HertzCarSales.com.
