Ronald McDonald House Bay Area Unveils a New Look, Uniting with Ronald McDonald House Programs Worldwide

New look, same heart. The refreshed identity reflects a global community of support for families with seriously ill children, with the same local care, services and commitment at no cost to families.

PALO ALTO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Since 1979, Ronald McDonald House Bay Area has walked beside families at every step of their child's medical journey. Today, the organization unveiled a refreshed name and visual identity that unites it with Ronald McDonald House programs around the world.

“When a family arrives at a major children’s hospital in the Bay Area, they’ll find us there; we have a new look, but the same heart.” – Laura Keegan Boudreau, CEO, Ronald McDonald House Bay Area

The look is new; the mission remains the same. Ronald McDonald House Bay Area, formerly Ronald McDonald House Charities Bay Area, continues to provide essential services that remove barriers, strengthen families, and promote healing when children need healthcare.

"Our new look tells the Bay Area who we are," said Laura Keegan Boudreau, Chief Executive Officer of Ronald McDonald House Bay Area. "The moment a family receives a serious diagnosis for their child, they begin a long journey full of unknowns, with challenges too daunting to face alone. That moment is when our mission begins. When a family arrives at a major children's hospital in the Bay Area, they’ll find us there; we have a new look, but the same heart."

A growing need, measured in nights, meals, and moments

Seriously ill children and their families need more than excellent medical care. They need a neighborhood of support, and every year that need grows and changes. In 2025 alone, Ronald McDonald House Bay Area provided 39,816 overnight stays, served 145,122 free meals, delivered 2,515 hours of free psychosocial support, and saved families an estimated $19 million in lodging and food costs.

Families often come to Ronald McDonald House already facing significant financial and personal challenges, which are compounded by the stress of caring for a seriously ill child.

Sixty-nine percent are low-income under CalFresh guidelines, and most spend 30 days or more away from home during their child's care. In a Stanford study of families served, 56% reported experiencing food insecurity at home and 40% needed to reduce hours or quit their jobs to care for their child.

"The journey of a family touched by a serious childhood illness never ends, and that family will never forget who was by their side," said Ross Glasser, Board President of Ronald McDonald House Bay Area. "Our new look brings everything we do together into one story: who we are, and what we're building with this community's help."

For families, nothing about the experience changes. Every service remains free of charge. The new identity will appear across the organization's Houses and programs, including:

  • The 123-bedroom Ronald McDonald House at Stanford
  • The recently expanded 21-bedroom Ronald McDonald House in Oakland
  • The Ronald McDonald House Family Room at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital San Francisco
  • Feed the Love meal program and hospitality carts inside partner-hospital sites

The new logo aligns Ronald McDonald House Bay Area with 394 Ronald McDonald House programs in more than 60 countries and regions. The shared identity, anchored by the global tagline "Family Stays," makes Ronald McDonald House instantly recognizable to families, hospitals, and supporters, wherever a child's care takes them. It also reflects a lasting partnership with McDonald's, the Founding and Forever Mission Partner of Ronald McDonald House, and the local Owner/Operators who support Bay Area families year-round.

Bring comfort home for the holidays: Comfort & Joy

The launch arrives as Ronald McDonald House Bay Area kicks off Comfort & Joy, its largest annual holiday drive. Many families will spend the season inside or near the hospital instead of at home, and Comfort & Joy helps make sure they don't miss out on the warmth of the holidays.

From now through Dec. 24, the community can make a year-end donation, host a drive with friends, neighbors or colleagues, and drop off new gifts and essentials at our regional headquarters at Ronald McDonald House at Stanford. To learn more, visit ronaldmcdonaldhousebayarea.org.
