Kazmira Therapeutics Partners with CareValidate to Expand Access to Prescription Cannabis Therapy Through Structured Telemedicine
The partnership connects the nation’s first prescription-only CBD pharmacy with CareValidate’s 50-state digital health platform, giving patients a clinician-led, pharmacy-dispensed pathway to cannabis therapy ahead of the December 2026 federal hemp enforcement deadline
DENVER--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Kazmira Therapeutics, the company behind Kazmira Pharmacy and the Cope Now telehealth platform, today announced a partnership with CareValidate, a digital health infrastructure platform that powers telehealth brands, provider networks, prescription routing and pharmacy fulfillment nationwide. The partnership brings Prescription Cannabis Therapy—non-intoxicating, THC-free cannabidiol (CBD) formulations compounded by a licensed 503A pharmacy against a prescription written by a licensed clinician—to patients through a structured telemedicine pathway across CareValidate’s network.
The partnership comes as Congress has closed the hemp loophole that allowed intoxicating, hemp-derived products to flood the over-the-counter market. Federal enforcement begins in December 2026, after which the majority of retail CBD products sold today will fall outside the legal definition of hemp. Kazmira’s pharmaceutical-grade, THC-free formulations and its prescription-only model position the company and its partners as compliant operators on the other side of that deadline.
Through the partnership, patients evaluated by independent licensed clinicians on CareValidate-powered telehealth programs can, when clinically appropriate, receive a prescription for compounded CBD formulated under license from Kazmira and made exclusively with Kazmira’s pharmaceutical-grade API. Prescriptions are routed through the CareValidate platform to Kazmira Pharmacy and other approved pharmacies, compounded to the patient’s prescribed dose and shipped directly to them. This access to prescription, THC-free CBD is now immediately available in all 50 states.
The partnership addresses a documented gap in cannabis-based care: 54 percent of active CBD users take less than 50mg per day, while clinical research shows that efficacy requires a dose of 200 to 400mg. Retail CBD leaves patients to guess at both the dose and the contents of what they are taking. Prescription Cannabis Therapy is built the other way: a licensed clinician evaluates the patient, writes the prescription and sets the dose, and a licensed pharmacy compounds and dispenses it. Research has also suggested positive signals for use of CBD in pets for several conditions.
“Over the last decade, we have worked to demonstrate that cannabinoids belong inside a more rigorous, healthcare-centered model,” said Priyanka Sharma, Ph.D., Co-Founder and Co-CEO of Kazmira Therapeutics. “What is exciting about this partnership is that we are no longer building that vision alone. Companies across healthcare are developing the infrastructure needed to connect patients, clinicians, technology platforms and licensed pharmacies. It has become a movement,” added Pulak Sharma, Co-Founder and Co-CEO of Kazmira Therapeutics.
“Millions of Americans already use CBD, and most of them are taking a fraction of a clinically meaningful dose with no clinician involved,” said John Hayde, co-founder and CEO of CareValidate. “Our job is to make that care better with a licensed provider, a real prescription, a pharmaceutical-grade formulation and a pharmacy that ships it to the patient’s door. Kazmira built the molecule and the pharmacy. CareValidate built the rails. Together we can put prescription cannabis therapy in front of patients in every state we serve.”
“Cannabinoid therapy has lived outside the healthcare system for too long, and patients have paid for that in guesswork,” said Jiten Chhabra, MD, co-founder and Chief Medical Officer of CareValidate. “What Kazmira brings is the discipline of pharmaceutical medicine—a purified, THC-free active ingredient, standardized formulations, defined dosing and clinician education—inside a telemedicine model with the guardrails providers expect: eligibility screening, a genuine patient-provider relationship, monitoring protocols and follow-up. That is the difference between a wellness product and a prescription therapy.”
Kazmira and CareValidate are also inviting hemp and cannabinoid businesses facing the November deadline to apply to become Storefront Partners, protecting those at risk of losing payment processing and advertising accounts, and offering their customers access to CBD through a branded, regulated telehealth storefront. Telehealth programs offering Prescription Cannabis Therapy through the CareValidate platform are expected to begin enrolling patients in October 2026. Patients can learn more about Prescription Cannabis Therapy at carevalidate.com.
