Comprehensive Cancer Centers of Nevada Makes DeepScribe Ambient AI Part of Care at Its 13 Locations

With over 90% clinician adoption, DeepScribe's ambient documentation and pre-charting for oncology deepens CCCN’s 50-year commitment to community cancer care

SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--DeepScribe, the ambient AI leader for oncology, announced today that Comprehensive Cancer Centers of Nevada (CCCN), one of the region's largest and most trusted community oncology groups, has deployed DeepScribe's Ambient Operating System to all 59 of its oncology clinicians. The platform includes ambient documentation, SmartPrep pre-visit intelligence, and coding, all built for oncology.

"I've always believed in taking care of the patient first and the disease second, and that starts with really being in the room with them. DeepScribe has given our physicians that room back.” - Rupesh Parikh, MD, Practice President and medical oncologist

More than 90% of CCCN clinicians have adopted DeepScribe, and have used it to document over 80% of all patient encounters — a clear signal that the technology has become an indispensable part of the team's workflow since rollout in June of this year.

"I've always believed in taking care of the patient first and the disease second, and that starts with really being in the room with them," said Rupesh Parikh, MD, CCCN Practice President and medical oncologist. "DeepScribe has given our physicians that room back. Our clinicians aren't thinking about a screen or trying to remember every detail after the visit. They're present with the patient, and DeepScribe takes care of the note."

DeepScribe has become the clear ambient AI of choice for cancer care, currently used by the majority of community oncology clinicians in the U.S. (55%). Additional practices have signed on to begin using the platform in the months to come.

Delivering cancer care to Southern Nevada for more than 50 years, CCCN has grown into a 13-location multidisciplinary practice spanning medical oncology, hematology, radiation oncology, breast surgery, and clinical research. An affiliate of The US Oncology Network (USON), CCCN participates in more than 150 clinical trials a year and has contributed to the development of more than 100 FDA-approved cancer therapies, giving patients access to advanced treatment close to home.

"CCCN has been earning the trust of cancer patients in Southern Nevada for decades," said Matthew Ko, DeepScribe CEO and founder. "They're exactly the type of organization we built DeepScribe for: a place in the community for cancer patients to receive care locally, and a group that continuously looks to improve the lives of their patients and physicians. We take that responsibility seriously and are proud to help our partners at CCCN make it happen.”

Clinicians see immediate value beyond documentation

In addition to adopting DeepScribe’s ambient documentation, CCCN clinicians have rapidly embraced SmartPrep, the company’s pre-visit intelligence tool, which finds, summarizes, and surfaces relevant patient information ahead of each encounter. By the second month of SmartPrep availability at CCCN, more than 8 in 10 clinicians were using it.

"SmartPrep changes how our doctors start every visit," said Dr. Parikh. "Instead of having to piece together a patient's history ahead of time, they walk in knowing what they need to know — labs, scans, messages. They can spend truly meaningful time with the patient. That's why we moved quickly to bring it to every clinician across our group."

"The way CCCN's clinicians have taken to SmartPrep says something big about where oncology is headed," said Ko. "Practices don't move quickly on a new tool because it's new. They move because it solves a real problem for their clinicians and their patients. CCCN's use of SmartPrep tells us we're helping solve the right problems."

DeepScribe integrates directly into iKnowMed, Ontada's oncology-specific EHR system used across CCCN's network, so documentation, coding, and clinical intelligence map seamlessly into clinicians' existing workflows.
