The Veterinary Cooperative and Elanco team up at 2026 VetVision to Support The Street Dog Coalition

The Street Dog Coalition provides free veterinary care to pets of people experiencing homelessness, using a One Health approach to street medicine that recognizes and supports the connection between the health and well-being of people and their animals.
For TVC, Paws for a Cause puts one of the seven principles at the heart of the cooperative model into action: Concern for Community. The principle reflects TVC’s commitment to investing in the communities its members serve through support for animal welfare, local initiatives and environmental sustainability.
That commitment came to life at Paws for a Cause: Bingo Night during TVC VetVision™ 2026 in Columbus, Ohio, where TVC Shareholders, team members, and industry partners came together to support The Street Dog Coalition. With Elanco’s matching contribution, the TVC community’s generosity will have an even greater impact.
The collaboration demonstrates how TVC’s cooperative model can extend beyond the independent veterinary practices it serves. By bringing together Shareholders, veterinary industry partners, and nonprofit organizations around a shared cause, TVC can turn the collective strength of its community into meaningful impact for animals and the people who love them.
Statement from Elanco: Working Alongside Trusted Partners
“We know real impact happens locally — alongside organizations caring for pets every day. That’s why Elanco is proud to partner with shelters and community clinics across the country, as well as The Street Dog Coalition. Together, we’re helping provide vaccines, preventative care, treatment, and support services to pets and families who might otherwise go without — strengthening local animal welfare ecosystems and creating healthier outcomes for pets nationwide.”
Statement from The Street Dog Coalition on the Impact
“The Veterinary Cooperative and Elanco’s joint support of The Street Dog Coalition will have an enormous impact on our ability to provide free veterinary care for pets of people experiencing homelessness, and we truly could not be more grateful for their partnership. Every year we calculate the average cost of providing care for one pet, and in 2026 that cost averaged $116. That said, TVC and Elanco will be directly responsible for ensuring that over 120 pets are happy, healthy, and living their best lives alongside the pet parents that love them. SDC’s approach to providing care centers the human-animal bond in recognition of the profound health benefits that result from that relationship. Having champions in our corner like The Veterinary Cooperative and Elanco, who also elevate the human-animal bond, allows us to expand our reach and our impact. Thanks to their support, our volunteer teams across the country will continue to do what they do best: caring for both ends of the leash.
The Street Dog Coalition operates in more than 60 locations across the United States, bringing free preventive veterinary care directly to pets of people experiencing homelessness through volunteer-led street clinics and partnerships with community organizations.”
