Veteran Aerospace and Aviation Leaders to Drive ATS’s Next Phase of Global Growth and Operational Excellence
MATHIS, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Airforce Turbine Service, Ltd. (“ATS” or the “Company”), a leading global aviation services company specializing in maintenance, repair and overhaul (“MRO”) of the PT6A turboprop engine family, has announced the appointments of Randy Mengel as Chief Executive Officer and Isaias Gomez as Chief Financial Officer, effective immediately.
Mengel brings more than 35 years of aerospace and defense experience, with a track record of growing engine overhaul businesses and expanding capabilities. Most recently, he served as Senior Vice President of Regional One’s Engine Division. As Chief Operating Officer of CTS Engines, he launched GP7200 and F117 MRO programs supporting the Airbus A380 and C-17 Globemaster III, respectively. During his 12 years at StandardAero, he doubled revenue at its Maryville operations, expanded shop capabilities and led key engine programs, including the Rolls-Royce AE-1107 and AE-2100 supporting the V-22 Osprey and C-130J.
“ATS has built a strong reputation as a trusted partner to PT6A operators around the world, and I am excited to join the Company at such a pivotal point in its growth journey,” said Mengel. “The team has done tremendous work expanding the global capabilities and footprint, and I look forward to building on that foundation and deepening our operational excellence, growing our aftermarket platform and continuing to deliver the reliability our customers depend on.”
Gomez brings more than 25 years of finance leadership across aerospace, aviation MRO and international operations. Most recently, he served as Chief Financial Officer of Citadel Completions, partnering with the CEO on strategy, capital allocation and organic growth and was integral in scaling its VVIP interiors and MRO business, integrating several strategic acquisitions. His background also includes senior finance leadership roles at AMETEK, where he led finance for an aerospace division spanning 11 manufacturing and MRO facilities. At Fairmount Santrol, he led finance for a $400 million division through the company’s IPO. Gomez began his career at Diamond Offshore Drilling, with leadership assignments in South Africa and Malaysia.
“I am excited to join ATS and work alongside Randy and the broader leadership team, and I look forward to bringing financial discipline and strategic focus to support the Company's continued organic and inorganic growth initiatives,” said Gomez.
Mengel and Gomez will work closely with Rob Wilson, Executive Chairman of ATS and McNally Capital industry partner, along with the Company’s existing leadership team. Wilson has served as Interim Chief Executive Officer and Executive Chairman since the close of the acquisition in December 2025 and will remain closely involved in guiding the Company’s strategic direction alongside the leadership team as he continues to serve as Executive Chairman. Wilson is the former President of Business Aviation & General Aviation at Honeywell Aerospace.
"This is an exciting inflection point for the ATS platform, and Randy and Isaias are the right leaders to help take the business to the next level,” said Wilson. “Their deep operational and financial expertise will strengthen ATS as the Company expands the global footprint of this leading platform for PT6 MRO services and builds on the deep expertise and execution culture of its team across all three locations.”
ATS is building a global independent aviation services platform offering overhaul, maintenance and AOG field repair. Its global footprint is anchored by its PT6A center of excellence in Mathis, Texas, with maintenance centers in Malaysia and South Africa and a sales office in Guatemala. Organic growth priorities include gaining share across a broader range of PT6 variants, expanding international capabilities and bringing more accessory, component and specialty repairs in network. ATS expects to be acquisitive, pursuing strategic acquisitions that deepen repair capabilities, expand alternative part options and broaden its coverage of mature engine families platforms.
