Eugene Gorfin Joins Cantor Fitzgerald as Chief Operating Officer

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Cantor Fitzgerald, L.P. ("Cantor Fitzgerald"), a leading global financial services and real estate services holding group, today announced that Eugene Gorfin has joined as Chief Operating Officer.

As Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Gorfin will oversee the Operations, Human Resources, Marketing & Communications, Compliance, and Administrative functions, partnering closely with executive leadership across Cantor, BGC, and Newmark to advance strategic priorities and support continued growth. Mr. Gorfin will report to Brandon Lutnick, Chairman of Cantor Fitzgerald, and join Cantor Fitzgerald’s Executive Committee.

With more than 30 years of experience, Mr. Gorfin joins Cantor Fitzgerald from Barclays, where he most recently served as Managing Director, Americas Deputy Chief Operating Officer, and CEO of the U.S. Services Entity. Throughout his career, he has worked closely with senior executives, regulators, and business leaders to strengthen governance, enhance operational effectiveness, and lead strategic initiatives. Prior to Barclays, he held senior leadership positions at UBS and KPMG Consulting.

Mr. Gorfin will assume oversight of Compliance from Stephen Merkel, Executive Vice Chairman, Executive Managing Director, and General Counsel for Cantor Fitzgerald. Mr. Merkel will continue to serve as board chair of Newmark Group Inc. and BGC Group Inc., a member of the Cantor Fitzgerald Executive Committee, and oversee the Cantor Fitzgerald Group’s global legal function.

Additionally, Mr. Gorfin will also assume oversight of the Operations, Human Resources, Marketing & Communications, and Administrative functions from Mike Whitaker. Mr. Whitaker will continue to lead Cantor Fitzgerald’s technology strategy as Group Chief Information Officer, driving innovation and operational efficiency throughout the organization.
