“International Consumer's Symposium in Tokushima 2026” to be livestreamed on October 17

TOKUSHIMA, Japan--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Tokushima Prefectural Government will hold the “International Consumer's Symposium in Tokushima 2026” on October 17. This symposium will gather consumer policy experts and the next generation of young people from Japan and abroad in Tokushima to discuss policies for achieving ethical consumption (including food loss reduction) and SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals).

Worsening climate change, concerns about energy supply, accelerating digitalization... How should we as consumers face these challenges and act in this fast-changing modern society? Starting in Tokushima, let’s take “the next step” together towards realizing a sustainable society.

This symposium will hold multi-faceted discussions including:

• a Global Youth Session by students from Tokushima and South Korea who will discuss their achievements and proposals aimed at achieving SDGs from a study tour of South Korea they participated in in July;
• a Feature Address by a Hong Kong–based international business and sustainability expert who will talk about consumption behaviors and sustainable society; and
• an Expert Session on Consumer Policy by experts from Japan, South Korea (which Tokushima is connected to via direct flights) and the United States of America who will discuss industry, government and academic approaches to and future outlooks of reducing food loss in Japan and abroad.

This symposium will be livestreamed via the prefecture's website. We hope this symposium's content will contribute to the progress of international consumer policy and lead to people’s changes in consumer behavior towards a sustainable society worldwide.
