Walser Automotive Group Announces Largest Acquisition in Company History

Acquisition of Freeway Ford, Metropolitan Ford, and Suburban Chevrolet expands Walser’s presence in its home Twin Cities market

BLOOMINGTON, Minn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Walser Automotive Group announced today that it has completed its acquisition of Freeway Ford, Metropolitan Ford, and Suburban Chevrolet.

The transaction represents the most significant acquisition in Walser’s history and will add nearly 300 employees to the organization. The Grossman family, a longtime Twin Cities dealership family, previously owned all three dealerships, meaning the stores will pass from one longtime Minnesota automotive family to another.

Ford was one of Walser’s earliest franchise acquisitions, with Towns Edge Ford in Hopkins opening in 1968. The acquisition of Freeway Ford in Bloomington and Metropolitan Ford in Eden Prairie marks Ford‘s return to the Walser franchise portfolio for the first time in 20 years.

On the other hand, adding Suburban Chevrolet in Eden Prairie expands Walser’s Chevrolet presence from White Bear Lake into the southwest metro.

The 35-rooftop dealer group said the investment represents an opportunity to grow with established dealerships that share a longstanding commitment to their employees, customers, and communities.
