GeoComply Launches DeviceGuard as Traditional Device Fingerprinting Loses Ground to Modern Fraud
GeoComply's device intelligence model, built on over a decade of spoofing detection experience, reveals whether a device has been seen before, whether it has been tampered with, and whether it is where it says it is, all in one check.
VANCOUVER, British Columbia--(BUSINESS WIRE)--GeoComply today announced the launch of DeviceGuard, its device intelligence model, that goes beyond a device fingerprint by detecting device manipulation and anchoring every device to where it physically sits on earth. DeviceGuard works across native applications and browser, supporting multiple industries, from iGaming and streaming to fintech and social networking.
"A device can tell you anything about itself. Our job, for the past fourteen years, has been to know what's actually true."

For over a decade, regulators have required GeoComply to prove where a device really is, with no room for failure. The people trying to beat that check do not only attack the location. They attack the device: resetting, rooting, jailbreaking and forging what it reports so that they can manipulate the signals it sends. DeviceGuard was built to catch exactly that, learning from more than 300 million devices and 2.5 billion signals a month.
Running in beta since mid-2025, DeviceGuard scored more than 1 million cases across 89 customers in the first three months of 2026 alone, with fraud-detection precision high enough for teams to act on automatically.
"A device can tell you anything about itself. Our job, for the past fourteen years, has been to know what's actually true," said Steven Vo, Chief Technology Officer of GeoComply. "That is what DeviceGuard gives a fraud team: over a decade of context on whether a device has been wiped, faked, or seen before under another name. The customers kept turning it on in more places, and that is what told us it was ready."
For years, the device fingerprint was the backbone of account and transaction risk. Today, it's increasingly limited. Apple and Google have made durable device identifiers resettable and app-scoped, so a single factory reset presents a brand-new device ID with no history attached. Anti-detect browsers do the same in the browser, handing every new account a fresh, convincing identity.
Resetting, jailbreaking, or rooting a device is close to point-and-click, and AI has put techniques that once took a specialist within reach of fraudsters operating at scale. Stolen identity data is cheap too: an identity can be bought and the verification faked. But the device underneath can't be. In a recent review with one customer, 93% of confirmed fraudsters had cleared identity verification, including photo verification, before DeviceGuard flagged them on the device.
DeviceGuard is available for app and browser, and can run in shadow mode to score live traffic before any action is automated.
