Children’s Hospital Los Angeles Ranked Top 5 in Pediatrics on Newsweek’s World’s Best Specialized Hospitals 2027 List
LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) has been named one of the top pediatric hospitals in the world, earning the No. 5 spot in Pediatrics on Newsweek’s World’s Best Specialized Hospitals 2027 list. Presented by Newsweek in collaboration with analytics firm Statista Inc., the World’s Best Specialized Hospitals comprise multiple lists recognizing leading hospitals worldwide across 13 medical fields, including Pediatrics. Hospitals are analyzed and ranked based on three pillars: reputation, accreditation, and patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) implementation.
As Children’s Hospital Los Angeles marks 125 years of caring for children and families, the recognition reflects more than a century of progress in pediatric medicine, clinical care, surgery, and research. CHLA continues to build on that legacy through compassionate care, pioneering treatments, and discoveries that improve outcomes for children around the world.
“This recognition belongs to the physicians, nurses, researchers, specialists, support staff, trainees, and countless other team members whose skill, compassion, and daily dedication make CHLA a place of hope and healing for children,” says Paul S. Viviano, President and CEO of Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. “Rankings are never the reason we do this work, but they do reflect the contributions and achievements of Team CHLA and the consistent, compassionate, expert care that our patients and families experience every day, and I am proud to see their work recognized on a global stage.”
As California’s largest provider of pediatric hospital care, CHLA serves children and families through specialized inpatient, outpatient, and community-based programs and oversees more than 750,000 patient visits each year. Its reach extends across Southern California, all 50 states, and more than 90 countries, distinguishing CHLA as one of the world’s premier pediatric academic medical centers. In addition, the Chuck Lorre Pediatric Health Education Institute delivers comprehensive education at CHLA across six pillars of professional training—physicians, nurses, clinical service and allied health professionals, researchers, simulation trainees, and members of the community workforce. This includes one of the nation’s largest pediatric training programs for doctors and nurses. The institute is the first of its kind in the nation and will serve as a model for training pediatric health professionals nationwide.
Through The Saban Research Institute of CHLA, researchers translate scientific discoveries into life-changing treatments and new cures for childhood diseases. With nearly 600 active clinical trials, CHLA gives children and families access to promising therapies while furthering research that aims to improve care for patients everywhere.
“This offers yet another affirmation of the breadth and depth of pediatric care delivered across the hospital, from everyday specialized care to some of the most advanced treatments available for children,” says CHLA Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Officer James Stein, MD, MSc, FACS, FAAP. “As Newsweek’s specialty rankings continue to evolve, CHLA’s placement among the top five pediatric hospitals globally reinforces our standing, not only as a leader in highly complex care for kids, but as a trusted source for children with any medical need.”
