Empathy Caregiving Support™ is designed to assist individuals and families as they manage the complexities of caregiving. It offers personalized guidance for managing difficult care decisions, coordinating family responsibilities, accessing recommended services and resources and navigating the emotional and practical challenges that can arise while caring for a loved one.

"Caregiving rarely announces itself. It often arrives gradually, leaving families to navigate new responsibilities while managing everything else life demands of them," said Ron Gura, Co-Founder & CEO of Empathy. "Our work with Transamerica has always been about meeting families before, during and after life's hardest moments. With Caregiving Support, we're there earlier, helping them make difficult care decisions, coordinate responsibilities and find the right services when it matters most.”

Transamerica will be the first insurance carrier to offer Empathy Caregiving Support™, expected to launch this fall. The offering complements existing Empathy services made available through Transamerica earlier this year, including Empathy LifeVault™, Empathy Loss Support™ and Empathy Connect™.

Meeting a Growing Need for Caregiving Support

More than 63 million Americans currently serve as unpaid caregivers, with caregiving responsibilities lasting an average of five years.1 Additionally, nearly 70% of people turning 65 will need some form of long-term care.2 Caregiving can bring extensive coordination responsibilities and significant emotional demands as caregivers balance careers, raise children and manage other family obligations, often without adequate preparation or support.

"Support should be available across a range of life events, not only after a loss has occurred," said Andrew DeMarco, Head of Life Solutions at Transamerica. "Adding Caregiving Support to our work with Empathy builds on the family-focused resources already available through Transamerica and helps address the realities many caregivers face every day."

Empathy Caregiving Support™ builds on Empathy’s model of combining emotional support with practical, step‑by‑step guidance to address one of the most challenging experiences a family can face. Through a technology-enabled experience, caregivers can access information, coordinate responsibilities and connect with relevant services throughout the caregiving process.

A Deepening Commitment

Since Transamerica began offering Empathy services earlier this year, the companies have supported an increasing number of policyholders, beneficiaries and financial professionals with personalized support. The collaboration now equips a nationwide network of advisors through Empathy Connect to support families before, during, and after life's hardest moments. Caregiving Support marks the next phase of that relationship and will be available to Transamerica Long Term Care policyholders, as well as Transamerica Financial Foundation IUL® policyholders in California.

The addition of Empathy Caregiving Support™ reflects Empathy and Transamerica’s shared commitment to helping families prepare for and manage some of life's most important caregiving, loss and legacy-planning decisions.
