Toronto Non-Profit Calls on CRA to Examine Charities Linked to Campaign Targeting 100+ Canadian Jewish Institutions

TORONTO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Unapologetically Jewish, a Canadian non-profit advocacy organization, today released an eight-month investigation into a campaign targeting more than 140 Canadian organizations, and is calling on the CRA and RCMP to examine the groups behind it.

"When you target a Jewish summer camp, you're not targeting Benjamin Netanyahu. When you target a Jewish school, you're not targeting the Israeli government. When you target a synagogue, you're not targeting the IDF. You're targeting Jewish life in Canada"

On August 16, 2026, Just Peace Advocates (JPA) published a list of 143 named Canadian organizations and urged supporters to "confront" them. Unapologetically Jewish's analysis found 76% (108) are Jewish community institutions, including 15 day schools and 7 children's summer camps, with the remainder made up of Israeli universities, their Canadian affiliates, and Christian organizations supportive of Israel. Nine named private Jewish families and foundations are also on the list. Unapologetically Jewish says this is JPA's fifth such campaign since 2021, including prior CRA complaints against more than 100 Canadian charities.

"When you target a Jewish summer camp, you're not targeting Benjamin Netanyahu. When you target a Jewish school, you're not targeting the Israeli government. When you target a synagogue, you're not targeting the IDF. You're targeting Jewish life in Canada," said Matthew Taub, founder of Unapologetically Jewish.

The report also raises questions about JPA's own funding and governance. JPA, a non-profit but not a registered charity, describes itself as fiscally sponsored by Non-Violence International (NVI). Unapologetically Jewish's review of NVI's latest IRS tax filing found the organization spent 47.8% of expenditures on payments to other organizations — versus 5.2% on its own education program — including $1,303,790 to unnamed foreign recipients. JPA's founding director, Jonathan Kuttab, is a sitting NVI officer who separately co-founded Al-Haq, sanctioned by the U.S. in September 2025. A related entity, NVI Canada, shows minimal revenue and no charitable-program spending.

Unapologetically Jewish has filed submissions asking the CRA to examine charities funding JPA and the status of NVI Canada, and asking the RCMP to assess the foreign-linkage questions raised. Supporting documents are available on request.

"Canadians deserve confidence that government institutions apply the law impartially," Taub said. "If the system is working impartially, Canadians deserve evidence of that. If it isn't, Canadians deserve to know why and they deserve it fixed."
