JBM Packaging Opens New Lebanon Facility to Expand Contract Packaging Capabilities

The new purpose-built operation increases machine capacity by 50 percent and creates room to grow filling, kitting and Fair Chance employment opportunities

LEBANON, Ohio--(BUSINESS WIRE)--JBM Packaging, a leading provider of eco-friendly paper packaging and contract packaging services, today celebrated the official opening of its new 52,500-square-foot facility in Lebanon, Ohio. Located approximately one mile from the company’s headquarters, the building is the new home for JBM’s growing contract packaging, kitting and filling services and will employ up to 50 new team members.

“This new building signals a strong future for JBM,” said Marcus Sheanshang, president and CEO of JBM Packaging. “We’re moving into new markets, expanding the services we offer customers and creating more opportunities for our team members."

“This new building signals a strong future for JBM,” said Marcus Sheanshang, president and CEO of JBM Packaging. “We’re moving into new markets, expanding the services we offer customers and creating more opportunities for our team members. Without this space, we simply couldn’t continue to grow.”

JBM launched its contract packaging business in a rented space in Queensgate in 2021 but quickly outgrew the location as demand for its contract packaging services surged. In addition to limited ceiling height and storage capacity, the distance from JBM’s headquarters to the other location also required team members to travel between the two locations, posing additional operational challenges.

The new, purpose-built facility features 28-foot clear-height ceilings, high-density warehouse racking and a layout engineered for efficient material flow and finished products. The operations increase overall machine capacity by 50 percent, enabling JBM to manage more of its customers’ packaging process, from planning and production to distribution. For example, JBM can now manufacture seed packets, source and store seeds, fill the finished packages, assemble them on a retail display and ship them directly to stores.

The facility also includes new equipment to support commercial filling, as well as a 35,000-cubic-foot, climate-controlled seed storage room to accommodate seasonal surges. Its proximity to the headquarters allows team members, packaging and materials to move between locations more efficiently.

Beyond seed packaging, the operation positions JBM to expand its work with consumer packaged goods companies seeking paper-based packaging, filling, kitting and related services. It also opens space at JBM’s headquarters facility for new paper-packaging equipment and future production growth.

Fair Chance Program Growth

The additional capacity directly supports JBM's Fair Chance hiring program, which provides employment opportunities to individuals who face barriers to traditional employment. Approximately 40 percent of JBM's current team members were hired through the program.

“This facility would not have been possible without our Fair Chance program,” added Sheanshang. “It has been instrumental in our growth; we simply would not be the company we are today without the people who have joined us through it.”

Many positions within the contract packaging operation provide opportunities for people to enter the workforce, build skills and advance within the company. JBM has promoted several Fair Chance team members to other roles within the company as its operations have grown.

JBM first established its headquarters in Lebanon in 1989 and celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2025. The new building continues the company’s investment in the community and gives customers the peace of mind that JBM is positioned for long-term growth.
