Abnormal AI Joins Project Watershed 250 to Strengthen Cybersecurity for Texas Water Utilities

Abnormal will offer its AI-native email threat detection at no cost to participating water utilities across Texas

SAN ANTONIO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Abnormal AI, the AI-native human behavior security comp, today announced its participation in Project Watershed 250, a public-private initiative coordinated by the White House Office of the National Cyber Director (ONCD), Office of the Texas Governor, and Texas Cyber Command to strengthen cybersecurity protections for water and wastewater utilities across Texas. Abnormal is one of several companies offering tools, expertise, and resources to help harden critical infrastructure against a threat landscape that is increasingly shaped by AI-enabled attacks.

The announcement comes amid a wave of cyberattacks against water and wastewater systems across the United States, including recent incidents that have disrupted operations at utilities in multiple states, underscoring the urgency of extending cybersecurity resources to historically under-resourced water providers.

Project Watershed 250 will pilot cybersecurity protections at water and wastewater utilities across Texas, in coordination with Texas Cyber Command. Abnormal will offer its AI-native email security platform to participating utilities at no cost for the duration of the pilot. Participating companies, including Abnormal, will contribute complementary capabilities spanning red-teaming, system hardening, and threat detection.
