Crescendo Health Appoints David Strutton, PhD as Chief Scientific Officer

SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Crescendo Health, a leader in modernizing clinical research data infrastructure, today announced the appointment of David Strutton, PhD, as Chief Scientific Officer (CSO). In this role, Dr. Strutton will lead the company’s scientific strategy, evidence generation frameworks, and customer solutions to advance patient-centric clinical research.

Dr. Strutton brings decades of experience in clinical research, real-world evidence (RWE), and health economics, having led transformative scientific initiatives across the biopharmaceutical and digital health sectors including senior roles at Merck and Pfizer. Dr. Strutton played a pivotal role in establishing Merck’s Center for Observational and Real-World Evidence (CORE) and spearheading integrated evidence strategies to support global access to Merck’s innovations. At Pfizer, he led Vaccines Global Health and Value, delivering evidence to advance global access to vaccines, through work with national immunization technical advisory groups, including the CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practice (ACIP).

Dr. Strutton is a Senior Fellow at The Center for the Evaluation of Value and Risk in Health (CEVR), part of the Institute for Clinical Research and Health Policy Studies at Tufts Medical Center. Dr. Strutton holds a PhD from The Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health, where he also served as an adjunct faculty member for 20 years.

"Dave’s deep scientific rigor and long-standing leadership in observational research make him the ideal leader to advance our methodologies and support our customers in deploying them," said Sam Roosz, Co-Founder and CEO of Crescendo Health. "As clinical development increasingly relies on continuous, patient-consented real-world data, Dave’s expertise will ensure our platform delivers the highest standard of scientific integrity to our sponsors, partners, and the patients we serve."

At Crescendo Health, Dr. Strutton will oversee the scientific rigor of the Crescendo solution, partner with life sciences sponsors on evidence strategy and study design, and drive research demonstrating the utility of health data infrastructure in accelerating therapeutic development.

"Crescendo Health is fundamentally changing how healthcare data is harnessed for scientific discovery by placing patients at the center of the research ecosystem," said Dr. Strutton. “I am thrilled to join the exceptional team at Crescendo to advance research methodologies that make clinical evidence generation more efficient, inclusive, and impactful.”
