Guidepost Solutions Welcomes Senior Financial Crime Executive Joseph E. Evans as Senior Managing Director

Evans brings more than 30 years of financial crime leadership across global banking and federal law enforcement to Guidepost Solutions' Global Investigations + Regulatory Compliance practice

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Guidepost Solutions, a global leader in domestic and international investigations, compliance solutions, monitoring, and security and technology consulting, today announced Joseph E. Evans has joined its Global Investigations + Regulatory Compliance practice as a senior managing director. Evans brings three decades of experience in senior financial crime roles, having steered top-tier financial institutions through some of banking's most intense stretches of regulatory scrutiny, with experience spanning compliance, regulatory enforcement, and federal law enforcement.

At Guidepost Solutions, Evans will lead client engagements on anti-money laundering (AML) and Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) compliance, sanctions programs, and regulatory remediation for banking and financial services clients. He will also help push Guidepost's practice into newer regulatory terrain, including digital asset and cryptocurrency compliance and the emerging oversight of prediction markets. His mandate covers helping clients build compliance frameworks that hold up under enforcement pressure and stand up governance structures capable of withstanding both regulator and board scrutiny.

“Joe has operated at the highest levels of financial crime compliance at some of the largest and most closely scrutinized institutions in the world, and that executive experience is exactly what our clients need as regulatory expectations continue to rise,” said Julie Myers Wood, CEO of Guidepost Solutions. “His ability to build enterprise-wide risk frameworks and lead organizations through intense regulatory pressure will be an immediate asset to our Global Investigations + Regulatory Compliance practice.”

Most recently, Evans was Americas Head of Anti-Financial Crime and BSA/AML Officer at Deutsche Bank, running its Anti-Financial Crimes Risk Management Framework across the U.S. and Latin America. He previously served as Global Head of Financial Crimes Operations for Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group, and as Executive Officer of Global Financial Crime Compliance for HSBC Holdings Plc, one of the world's largest global banks, during a period of intense regulatory scrutiny under a Deferred Prosecution Agreement. Across all three institutions, Evans built out transaction monitoring, screening, KYC, and investigations functions, and wrote the enterprise-wide risk frameworks and risk appetite statements governing them. He also served as a Chief Data Officer overseeing global data governance standards and built financial crimes training academies used across first- and second-line functions.

Before moving into banking, Evans spent years in federal law enforcement, rising to Regional Director for North and Central America and Assistant Special Agent in Charge of the New York Field Division at the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration. In those posts, he led international narcotics and money-laundering investigations that dismantled transnational criminal organizations. He also served as an infantry and reconnaissance officer in the United States Marine Corps.

Evans is a Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (ACAMS) and holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering Technology from the University of Alabama. He sits on the Board of Governors and Directors of the Marine Corps Association and is fluent in both English and Spanish.
