Attalon Launches Valaris Platform for Mission-Ready Beam Combined Laser Solutions

New platform unifies Attalon's field-proven beam combined laser architectures, giving customers the flexibility to select the right laser solution for production high-energy laser systems.

PHILADELPHIA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Attalon, a leading provider of advanced defense technologies, today announced the launch of Valaris, a unified platform of mission-ready beam combined laser solutions. The platform brings together Attalon's coherently, spectrally, and dichroically beam combined laser technologies under a single product family, providing defense prime contractors, system integrators, and government customers the flexibility to select the laser architecture best aligned with their mission requirements.

"Customers aren't looking for a single laser architecture—they're looking for the right laser architecture for their mission," said Matt Straup, Vice President and General Manager, Directed Energy & Advanced Lasers at Attalon.

As directed energy systems transition from technology demonstrations to production programs, customers require laser solutions engineered not only for performance, but also for manufacturability, maintainability, and mission readiness. Valaris was created to meet those evolving requirements by offering multiple beam combined laser architectures through a common platform backed by Attalon's decades of engineering, manufacturing, and directed energy expertise.

The Valaris platform includes three mission-ready beam combined laser solutions:

  • Valaris X – A coherently beam combined (CBC) laser architecture delivering 50kW-class performance with advanced adaptive optics, scalable beyond 300kW for the most demanding long-range directed energy missions.
  • Valaris S – A spectrally beam combined (SBC) laser architecture delivering 30kW-class performance, scalable to 50kW-class, while balancing exceptional beam quality, manufacturing scalability, and cost.
  • Valaris D – A dichroically beam combined (DBC) laser architecture delivering 10kW-class performance for applications requiring lower power levels while providing a cost-effective path to operational capability.

The name Valaris reflects the platform's purpose. Derived from the Latin word valens, meaning strength, and inspired by Aris—a modern interpretation of Ares—it represents Attalon's commitment to delivering strength to the modern warfighter through mission-ready beam combined laser technologies.

"Customers aren't looking for a single laser architecture—they're looking for the right laser architecture for their mission," said Matt Straup, Vice President and General Manager, Directed Energy & Advanced Lasers at Attalon. "Valaris gives system integrators the flexibility to choose the beam combined laser solution that best meets their performance, integration, and sustainment requirements while leveraging technologies that have already proven themselves across demanding defense applications."

The launch of Valaris reinforces Attalon's position as a leader in mission-ready directed energy technologies. Across its Directed Energy & Advanced Lasers business, the company continues investing in American engineering, manufacturing, and innovation while advancing scalable beam combining laser architectures that support the transition of directed energy from development to production.

"Directed energy is no longer defined solely by what is possible in the lab—it is defined by what can be built, delivered, and sustained in the field," said John Bergeron, Chief Executive Officer of Attalon. "Valaris represents that shift. It brings together our most mature beam combined laser technologies into a single platform designed to move customers from prototype systems to production-ready capability with speed, confidence, and scale."

By bringing together multiple field-proven beam combined laser architectures under a single platform, Attalon simplifies technology selection, accelerates system integration, and helps customers transition from development to production with confidence.
