James P. Holland to Join Humana as Medicaid President

LOUISVILLE, Ky.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Humana Inc. (NYSE: HUM) today announced that James “J.P.” Holland will join the company as senior vice president and President of Medicaid, effective August 17. In this role, Holland will lead the company’s growing Medicaid business, which currently serves more than 1.6 million members in 11 states. Holland will report to Aaron Martin, President of Insurance.

Holland most recently served as President and CEO of Johns Hopkins Health Plans, where he led Medicaid, Medicare and other government-sponsored businesses. Prior to Johns Hopkins Health Plans, he was CEO of the Alliance Business at Elevance Health and also held leadership roles at Amerigroup and WellCare Health Plans. Earlier in his career, Holland served as a U.S. Navy pilot. He holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from the U.S. Naval Academy and an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
